Big Bend Winnie-Tascas August 2005 Newsletter By Sue Daws and Margie Roberts
Big Bend Winnie-Tascas campers met
for their August meeting in Franklin, NC. Their stay began on
Monday, August 22 at the Cullasaja RV Park. Plans were to stay
until the following Monday, however, Hurricane Katrina changed some of
those plans.
During the stay the group first greeted Margie and Carlos, who had
been on a LONG vacation. We were sure glad to see them and had
certainly missed them. We enjoyed the scenery of the Franklin area,
many good meals, cooked at the campground or at different
restaurants. George's sons Steve and Keith, and Nena and
Cheryl joined us for our annual trip to the Dillard House, where we
all ate toooooo much, but sure enjoyed the good food. As always
the ladies shopped a couple hours downtown. It was an
enjoyable camping trip to all.
Tom reported that Karen and Roger Inman from Tallahassee are
interested in joining and the Robert Reese's from Sylvester are also
interested. Our THANKS go out to Tom for really staying on top
of prospective members.
President Margie asked the group if anyone was interested in
attending the Florida WIT Rally in Orlando. The McCalls
expressed an interest in attending. She also brought up the
Great North American Rally to be held in Daytona Beach
Wednesday-Sunday, April 5-10, 2006. Interest was expressed by
the members and the president will get additional information. Club
members voted to plan to attend the Georgia State WIT Rally in
Perry, Ga on Tuesday, April 18th until Sunday, April 23rd. It was
the decision of the club to cancel plans to meet at Twin Oaks in
October and plan to meet at Oaks 'n Pines in Lake City, FL.
Evelyn and Bill will be the hosts of that meeting.
George and Sue will be the host of the September
meeting in Sopchoppy. The group plans to arrive on
Saturday, September 10th and depart on Wednesday the 14th.
They plan to attend church with George and Sue at the Ochlockonee Bay
UMC on Sunday.
Carlos volunteered to grill hamburgers on Saturday.
We will eat out for lunch on Sunday. Monday we hope to go to
Carrabelle and see the WWII Museum and maybe on to some of the other
towns. Tuesday we will have lunch or an early dinner at the
Seineyard in Woodville and just loaf, rest, relax, play games, catch
up on the news, etc.
On Wednesday, departure day, George and Sue will
have breakfast for the group at their home, prior to the groups
departure. Please note, all items subject to change based on the
desires of the group and the hurricanes . . .
The door prize drawing was held and Evelyn was the
winner. The door prizes are furnished by our sponsor, Harberson-Swanston
RV Sales in Holiday, FL. Our ""THANKS" go out to
Manager Mark and salesman son, Ryan.
