Big Bend Winnie-Tascas
June 2005 Newsletter
By Sue Daws
The
Big Bend Winnie-Tascas campers met for their June campout at Sugarmill
Campground, in Ochlocknee, Ga. On Thursday, June 9th until
Sunday, June 12th. Members
attending were Wagonmasters Larry and Laverta Bishop, Tom Holloman,
George and Sue Daws.
First on the agenda was the buffet at the restaurant adjacent to the Farmer’s Market. Soooo delicious, as always. This was just the beginning of some wonderful meals during our brief stay. For example: pigs-in-the-blanket with chili sauce; “Not Your Mothers Chicken Salad Sandwiches”, grilled hamburgers with delicious potato salad (a family recipe of Tom and his daughter, Anna); delicious breakfast of sausage, crisp bacon, scrambled eggs, crescent rolls, and all the trimmings, provided by Larry and Laverta; Larry and Sue’s birthday celebration lunch included, baked ham, squash and green bean casseroles, potato salad, crescent rolls, deviled eggs, ships and dip and a delicious birthday cake. Additional munches during the campout included watermelon, cantelope, chips, dip, chocolate chip cookies, lemon squares, almond cookies and fresh tomatoes. During the stay we visited the goat cheese processing plant and enjoyed watching the milking of the goats. Laverta enjoyed seeing the sheep dogs guarding the goats. We also checked out Big Lots, Walmarts and the men visited a boat shop, while Sue and Laverta did some crafts which Laverta had brought. They also enjoyed many games of Rummy-o. Larry enjoyed fishing, but did not get to do as much as he would have liked to, because of inclement weather – better known as lots of rain. We were very happy to have Tom’s daughter Anna Lynn and his son-in-law Don; Larry and Laverta’s two daughters, one son-in-law, and that sweet granddaughter all visit us during the campout. What fun visiting with these special people. During the membership meeting we discussed the balance of our year’s schedule and made a few changes. The schedule will be as follows:; July 10th-13th (Sunday until Wednesday) Sugarmill Campground, Ochlocknee, GA August 22nd-29th (Monday until Monday) Cullasaja Campground, Franklin, NC September 11th-14th (Sunday until Wednesday) Sopchoppy City Park Campground, Sopchoppy, FL. Sue and George are encouraging the members to come on Saturday, September 10th and plan to attend Church with them on Sunday. October 9th-13th (Sunday until Thursday) Twin Oaks Campground, Perry, GA November 13th-16th (Sunday until Wednesday) Eagle’s Roost, Lake Park, GA December 11th-14th (Sunday until Wednesday) Sugarmill Campground, Ochlocknee, GA.
