Big Bend Winnie-Tascas

March 2004 Newsletter

Our meeting was held on March 10-16 at the Florida State Winnie-Gators 33rd Annual Rally in Orlando. Members present were Bill and Evelyn McCall, Margie Roberts and Carlos Bowers, Larry and Laverta Bishop and Tom Holloman.

Vice President Larry presided and opened with a prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance was given by the members. Members agreed to send flowers or fruit to Clarice. Evelyn said she would handle this for the club. Laverta won the prize of a 15 to 30 plug. There was a discussion of our April 21-25 meeting in Perry, GA with the Georgia State Rally. Tom said he will meet us at the gate and help us park.

Our club helped with placing markers for parking on Thursday and also to park the 372 RVs from Thursday to Saturday. Tom worked real hard parking the handicapped campers. Friday night we played bingo. Carlos was the first one to win a whopping $135. All the food and entertainment was enjoyable with lots of strawberry desserts. The weather was ideal. I think everyone will agree that the Rally was a success for all. Next year the club will be helping with the Wine and Cheese party.

May 16-18 the meeting will be at Cottonhill Corps. of Engineers Campground near Fort Gaines, GA. At the end of August we will be going to the same campground near Franklin, NC that we enjoyed last summer to stay a week or longer.

On Sunday, March 21, Sue, George, Evelyn, Bill, Margie, Carlos, Larry, Laverta and Tom visited Clarice at Plantation Manor in Thomasville, GA. The club gave her a dish garden. All of us left saddened that she will no longer be camping with us. We will always have many happy memories of the good times we shared with her. Margie and Carlos are leaving April 28 for a four months trip out west. They hope to return for the August meeting in North Carolina. Sue will be doing her usual good job in sending out the newsletter monthly.
