Sept. 2005 Newsletter

By Sue Daws and Margie Roberts

The meeting was held at the Sopchoppy City Park Campground in Sopchoppy, FL. Those present were: Margie Roberts, Carlos Bowers, Tom Holloman, Evelyn and Bill McCall, Ray and Barbara Phillips, Larry and Laverta Bishop, Sue and George Daws.  Guests Karen and Roger Inman from Tallahassee joined us on Sun. for lunch at The Landing restaurant in Panacea and then to the campground to visit. We are hoping they will camp with us again soon.

Evelyn made our reservations for our next meeting in Oct. at Oaks 'N Pines in Lake City, FL.  We will have kitchen priviledges plus the lady said she would be happy to cook a meal for us for $6.00 per person.  We can select from her available list what we would like.

During the campout the group attended church services with George and Sue at their church – Ochlockonee Bay United Methodist Church, followed by delicious refreshments in the fellowship hall. They enjoyed meals at The Landing, Crooked River Grill, Seineyard, grilled hamburgers (deliciously grilled by Carlos) and breakfast at the Daws home.

They went to Carrabelle to visit the World War II Museum, which was very interesting and, most of all, enjoyed fellowship together, sometimes over card games, sometimes just sitting around, dodging the sun, but always having a fun campout. The monthly prize drawing was an extendable handle brush, which was won by Ray.  He donated it back to the club to be used at the next campout. Our door prizes are furnished by Mark and Ryan of Harberson-Swanston RV, of Holiday, Florida and are the chapter’s means for raising funds.

The group voted to make a monetary donation of $50 to the American Red Cross for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
