DuBol
Winnies Northeast Florida Thirteen coaches gathered at the beautiful
Blueberry Hill RV Resort in Bushnell, Florida for the September meeting.
Early arrivals enjoyed the amenities of the campground:
swimming, shuffleboard, shooting pool, playing cards, or frequently
visiting the WalMart across the street.
We welcomed new members, Wayne
& Judy Sapp from Lake City. Since
almost everyone arrived early, we met in the clubhouse for Happy Hour
followed by a pizza party. Later
while the ladies played cards, many of the men went around and scrubbed
those annoying lovebugs off the fronts of each others coaches. On Friday, many of the ladies traveled to “Rogers
Christmas House” in nearby Brooksville to seek out bargains and
decorating ideas for the upcoming holidays.
The girls enjoyed lunch at Mallie Kyla Café while the some of the
men lunched on leftover pizza. After
returning to our coaches we were treated to the traditional new motorhome
tour and a wine & cheese party hosted by Jack
& Gloria Caffrey to celebrate the purchase of their beautiful new
2006 SunCruiser. Later we enjoyed a hamburger and hotdog supper prepared by
our hosts, Ken & Jean Aldridge,
assisted by Jack & Gloria Caffrey.
After dinner, the Caffreys challenged our brains with a game of
“Winnebago Jeopardy”, which they had created.
By the end of the game, we finally had mastered phrasing an answer
as a question. Saturday morning kicked off with a delicious
breakfast of omeletes, hash browns, biscuits, OJ and coffee prepared by
our hosts. Our business
meeting was held following breakfast.
During the afternoon we snuck a peek at the outdoor grill to sniff
out Ken Aldridge’s slow cooked beef brisket.
This delectable delight was served with “from scratch” pinto
beans, cole slaw, potato salad, cornbread and pot luck desserts.
It sure is nice to have a little bit of Texas (Ken’s home state)
in our Florida club. After
dinner many of the members watched the Florida Gator/Tennessee game and
went to bed happy with Florida’s victory. Sunday morning, over donuts and coffee, we thanked our hosts for a wonderful campout, and headed our separate ways until the next get together.
