Du-Bol Winnies April 2007 Outing By Gloria Caffrey Thirteen DuBol Winnies coaches camped in Hoboken, Georgia, with several other clubs for the April Northeast Florida Friendship Rally. We were joined by Dick & Mikki Dodge, the WIT Eastern area reps, who willingly participated in such activities as “Survivor” and learning how to “cut” ice cream for the ice cream social. Several of the DuBols were volunteered to drive the golf cart and haul campers around on Friday. Some said it was easier to drive a big motorhome!! In true Georgia tradition, the Saturday evening BBQ chicken and ribs dinner was “the best I ever ate”. Club member, Jennie Pikula was happy she came…she won over $300 in one of the drawings. The southeast Georgia fires started during this rally, and everyone was grateful that the fires stayed far enough away from the campground and all were safe. On Sunday, the Mockos, Hoffrens, Normans, Pickulas, Terrys and Drusts departed Hoboken, braving some intense windy and smoky conditions and rocked their way to Lake Park, GA, where they were joined on Tuesday by the Caffreys and Weitzels. On Wednesday the entire group caravaned to Perry, GA, where they met up with the Poss’s and Stevens’ for the Georgia Winnie Rebels State WIT rally. Decked out in western shirts, fancy cowboy hats and plenty of “Howdy Pardners”, we blended right in with the Georgia folk and had a great time at their Western Roundup. The Georgia WIT clubs did themselves proud with plenty of activities, including dealer coaches, vendors, crafts, square-dancing, hay rides, ample amounts of good food, and some original home-grown evening entertainment. Six of our ladies participated in the Ladies Driving Class and we thank Doug Ralston and Doug Ripley for their good humor and patient instruction. We had a blast…and so did our husbands who lined the driving route and cheered us on as we maneuvered around light poles and thru the cones. Good thing they didn’t see us back in at the “campsite”. Basking in perfect weather, we gathered outside for afternoon Happy Hours, enjoying the company of Dick & Mikki Dodge, Dan and Linda Tuzzello, “Linda’s Mom & Linda’s Dad”, and anyone else who dropped by. The horse lovers in our group snuck over to the fairgrounds arena for the Magnolia Arabian Horse Show, where horses and riders awed the audience with their skill, grace and beauty. We departed on Sunday morning, a few door prizes richer, and thankful to the Winnie Rebels for putting on a great rally. April, 2007
