Du-Bol Winnies
March 2005 Outing

Local Chapter

By Margaret Mocko

The March meeting was held in conjunction with the Florida State Rally in Orlando, Fl.  There were 13 coaches present plus visitors, John and Carol Heafer, who also joined the Du-Bols during the rally.  6 coaches met in St. Augustine, at an I-95 rest stop, and caravaned down.  We were joined by honorary member, Sylvia Sholes, who spent several nights in a local motel.

This year the Du-Bols were responsible for keeping the coffee pots going for breakfasts and dinners. We also made and served ice tea, ice cream floats and served donuts for breakfast at closing.  Everyone worked really hard as a team and we got the job done.

Mother Nature was not kind to those of us who arrived early at the fairgrounds.  It was pouring down rain and the field was rutted mud.  Kudo's to the greeters and parkers who had to be out in such awful weather.

As usual the rally was lots of fun. We all enjoyed the wine and cheese party and the ice cream social and catered breakfasts and dinners supplied by Rainbow Caterers. Perusing vendors hall, touring new coaches and enjoying the strawberry margaritas provided by SunCoast RV.

We applaud Jack and Gloria Caffrey who stepped in and gave a crash course on CPR when the instructor couldn't make it. Eddie and Louise Jones handled the WIT number prizes along with help from Ed and Marion Graveline.  On the last evening of the rally, the Joneses won the door prize of a CRUISE.  Speaking of winning, Joe and Blanche Norman's dog Rascal, won a prize in the pooch parade.

The Red Hat luncheon was enjoyable and it was fun to see lots of clever and beautiful Red Hats.  Lunch was followed by a fashion show using Winnie-Gators ladies as models.  They all looked great in their outfits.

At the end of the rally we all said our good-bye's and some went home and other's traveled to other places.
