DuBol Winnies

March 2007 outing

By Gloria Caffrey

On a gorgeous Tuesday morning, nine Du-Bol Winnies coaches met at the St Augustine Rest Stop and began the caravan to the Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando for the annual Winnie Gators Florida State Rally.  Sharing the interstate with the Daytona Bike Week attendees, all coaches arrived safely and met 5 other DuBol Winnies who went in as some of the earliest arrivals to the fairgrounds.  Among the early arrivals were James and Mary Stowers, who joined the club.  Over the next few days a total of 15 DuBol-ers joined over 300 Winnebago-Itasca owners for a memorable “Fun in the Sun” rally.   The weather for the entire event was picture perfect with warm days and cool nights putting all in a happy mood.  This rally was chocked full of things to see and do as well as catching up on the news with friends from other clubs.

Volunteerism is what makes this rally work, and this year our club managed the Arts & Crafts show with supreme efficiency and dutifully picked up the trash in the main hall after all the event meals.  As in years past, longtime DuBol members Eddie & Louise Jones organized and manned the Door Prize tables.  When not working we parted with our money in Vendor Hall, visited the dealer coaches, attended seminars, played games, enjoyed the entertainment, ate and ate some more.  Member, Margaret Mocko won a second place ribbon for painting in the Arts and Crafts show and the Norman’s and Pikula’s dogs showed off in the pooch parade.  Our grateful thanks to the WinnieGators officers and everyone who made this rally one of the best yet.  We’ll be back!!
