DuBol Winnies

September 2008 Outing Report

The summer found many of the DuBol Winnies on the road. September was a get together for some who had not seen each other since the spring.  We met at Seasons in the Sun RV Resort in Mims, Florida, on September 17 – 21.  Illness kept some away and others were still on the road but 12 coaches were on site.  We all were reminded of why we live in Florida.  The weather was perfect and the breezes were balmy.  The first night is always dinner at one of the local restaurants and this time was no exception.  We had seafood at its finest. 

Last spring we started a cookout on the lawn on Friday night in addition to our Saturday night get-together sponsored by the weekend hosts.  The host couples this weekend were Jennie and Joe Pikula and Donna and Jack Weitzel.  On Friday everyone brings their own meat and some side dish for the group to sample.  The weather was so beautiful that part of the group sat around a campfire after dinner while others opted for indoor games and entertainment.

On Saturday morning our official meeting was held and that afternoon the ladies made teabag holders as a craft and the men participated in a “Sling Ball” contest.  That night dinner was a great success with a Mexican flavor.

Entertainment after dinner consisted of Emergency vehicle races which had everyone cheering for their favorite fire engine, ambulance, police car etc.  After everyone cheered so much they were beginning to get hoarse, the WII game came out and the bowling contest began.  Our President Jennie Pikula took top honors with a new member Pat Dinkins coming in second.  The guys say they are going to practice for a rematch. 

Everyone hated to leave on Sunday and “return to the real world”.  Anyone who likes a good time and relaxing company should visit us sometime.
