FUNTIME TRAVELERS FEBRUARY 2006 NEWSLETTER Around noon on Friday, six coaches met at Sun Lake RV Resort for our February campout. Attending were: Harlan and Barb Evans, Phyllis Clinton and Irene Dickelman, Bud and Paula Geng, Paul and Claire Madsen, Ted & Evie Meekma and Frank and Donna Randolph. We were blessed with beautiful warm weather, so we could all enjoy the great outdoors for our weekend activities. Friday afternoon we enjoyed visiting, and as usual, our Happy Hour got started a little early. I don’t know what it is, but for some reason I like it when that happens!! Our hosts for the weekend, Madsen’s, Meekma’s and Phyllis Clinton arranged for a potluck supper, and additionally, Paul and Ted grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. For dessert, Phyllis brought a huge, homemade angel food cake, topped with fresh strawberries. That cake literally melted in our mouths, it was so good!! Afterwards, cards and dominoes were the choice of the evening. Saturday morning started off with a delicious scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon breakfast prepared by our hosts, but with our group, it’s hard to tell who the hosts are, because everyone seems to pitch in and help, and that’s really appreciated! A pleasant surprise was having Phil Halstead join us for breakfast. Only one thing missing there….Shirley!! We held our chapter meeting after breakfast, and had our 50-50 drawing for our “Charity-Of-The-Year, the Praeder-Willi Foundation. Harlan Evans was the lucky winner of the 50-50 drawing. Saturday afternoon some of the ladies (the big spenders) went shopping at Beall’s, and when they returned, we had a rousing game of bean-bag baseball. The game started out pretty boring with a very lop-sided score, but actually ended up pretty close! Turned out to be a good game! Following that, we again enjoyed a fun Happy Hour, and then car-pooled to Danny Boy’s Restaurant for dinner. Returning to the clubhouse, Claire Madsen had a new game for us, “Card Bingo,” played with nickels, dimes and quarters. It was fun, but, just like Friday night playing cards, and Saturday morning winning the 50-50 drawing, Harlan Evans was, again, the big winner! It’s not that he’s so good……he’s just plain lucky!!! Sunday morning, following our continental breakfast, and a fun weekend, it was time for hugs and goodbyes until we meet again March 16-19 at the State Rally in Orlando. Looking forward to seeing all of you Funtimers there.
