Funtime Travelers Another “Fun Weekend” was what we had, when we met for our campout at Sun Lake RV Resort at Ruskin, FL, February 16-18, 2007. Attending the weekend outing were Phyllis Clinton, Harlan & Barb Evans, Bud & Paula Geng, Phil and Shirley Halstead, Dick & Janet Headley, Ted & Evelyn Meekma and Frank & Donna Randolph. We were pleased to have Joyce Lewis join us as a guest, with us for the first time, and now our newest member! It’s great to have you with us, Joyce! Also, it was good to have the Headley’s back with us, too! It has been a while since they’ve been able to attend! The weather was a bit on the chilly side (now that’s an understatement….it was down-right cold!!!) so all of our visiting and socializing was done in the clubhouse. Our happy hour on Friday started just a bit early as usual, followed by a delicious potluck dinner. After dinner a game of dominoes was enjoyed. Saturday morning we awoke to an outside temperature of 37 degrees, but we all stayed warm and cozy in the clubhouse, enjoying a breakfast of scrambled eggs and sausage, toast, a fruit cup and coffee, prepared by our hosts, Harlan & Barb Evans and Ted & Evelyn Meekma. Our chapter meeting was held following breakfast, at which time we discussed our up-coming duties as “Greeters” for the State Rally March 8-11th in Orlando. We will be caravanning up on Monday, March 5th, so we can get things ready by 1:00 PM on Tuesday, when the gates officially open for the Rally at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. Saturday afternoon we showed off our skills at Beanbag Baseball, and would you believe the “Weak Team” won both games!! Yes, miracles do happen on occasion!! Even though we can’t all win, we can, and did, all have a good time!! Happy Hour followed our beanbag baseball, and we were joined then by two more of our members, Dave and Betty McLauchlin, Betty’s friend, Sheila Fiebig, and guests, Cliff and Bridgett Gilmore, who all joined us at Danny Boy’s Restaurant for dinner. Sunday morning we had our usual continental breakfast, followed with “Hugs and Goodbyes,” until we meet again in about three weeks in Orlando for the State Rally. Let’s all plan on being there! We need everyone’s help to get the job done with our “Greeter‘s” responsibilities! Plus, it’s always a “Fun” Rally you really don’t want to miss! We hope to see you all there!
