MID-FLORIDA WINNIES
March 2004 Outing

By:  LOIS JONES

The March Mid-Florida campout was held in conjunction with the Florida State Rally in Orlando.  Our club had a very good representation with 18 member rigs in attendance.  The theme for the rally was Strawberry Festival and we had lots and lots of strawberries.  Yum, yum!!

Prior to the first day of the rally we started out by having a music jam session lead by the Mid-Florida Strummers for everyone that wanted to either listen or play music on Thursday night.  Then on Friday we had fun working the Bingo game.  Charlie and Ruth Monzillo made sure that all went well.  There were a lot of people in attendance and the prizes for the person that cried out “Bingo” were excellent.  The winners did not go home disappointed.  After the rally started our club did the Cake Walk.  Harry and Lois Jones kept this going very well by using 3 large circles of 25 people in each circle, passing plates and some lively Cajun music.  We all stayed busy for an hour giving away cakes.  We wondered if it was the music or the cakes that kept everyone there.  As they passed their plates some would dance in their spot and some would sing.  A really good time.  During the rally Jack and Dorothy Williams had a “Basket of Cheer” they pulled around in a wagon and sold tickets for the drawing on Monday night.  On the last night of the rally Ruth Monzillo was the hat lady.  Her hat looked like an Easter Basket.  She and Charlie spent the day selling tickets. All of our members present did a wonderful job making sure that the tasks at hand were handled in a professional manner.  We all had a fun time working together.

Come join us some time at one of our regular club meetings.  We will be having our next campout April 23-25 at Recreation Plantation in Lady Lake, Fl.
