MINUTES OF THE INITIAL MEETING January 27,2007 Pineglen RV Park, Panama City Beach PRESENT: Dick Dodge began the meeting by asking everyone attending to introduce themselves and give a little personal information. Bud Geng told us about the Florida State Winnie Gators, how they operate and what they do. He issued a special invitation to attend the State Meeting in Orlando, March 8-10. . Dick Dodge gave an overview of his job as an area rep and GNR. Dick then went over the requirements of a WIT chapter. He explained each chapter should participate with the State club, sharing responsibilities of state meetings. He explained a Friendship Rally and stated each chapter should meet at least 6 times a year and gave many examples of how other chapters arrange their schedule. A general discussion was held regarding a potential name. After much discussion the name Miracle Strip Winnies was agreed on as representative of the Panama City area of the Gulf Coast. Possible colors and symbol were discussed and it was agreed they should be beach oriented. Bobbye Cole will pursue these further and report at the next meeting. Dick explained that WIT chapters were expected to do some charitable endeavor. Some possible means and recipients were discussed. More suggestions and discussion dealt with by laws, chapter newsletters, articles and pictures in the WIT Magazine, Who’s Inviting Travelers section, camping with other chapters, campout activities and recruiting new members. In order to be a member of a WIT chapter an individual must own a Winnebago/Itasca Motorhome and be a member of the WIT National Club,. He may be a member of more than one chapter and should wear name badges to meetings. Sam Abdo gave the group a special greeting and expressed his intent to sponsor the group. He offered his support by allowing the group to make copies and provide postage as needed. He further made a donation of $250.00 seed money to help the chapter get started. Those present unanimously and enthusiastically agreed to form the Miracle Strip Winnies and to hold the next meeting at Pine Lake RV Park in Fountain, February 23-25. Dick & Joan Nallick and Curt and Shirley Newton will be the hosts. Sam Abdo offered to provide dinner Saturday night. The group generally agreed to let the hosts decide where, how and what a meeting would entail. Russ and Bobbye Cole and CJ and Leola Porter will host the next meeting with the date and location to be determined. The following officers were elected: President: Dick Nallick Officers were to be installed later that evening at dinner. Pictures of the group were taken. Bobbye Cole made a motion to adjourn that was seconded by Shirley Newton. The meeting was adjourned to meet back later for dinner and Chase the Ace. Submitted by Shirley Newton
