Panhandle Winnies
April 2005 Outing

Local Chapter

         By Barbara Partrick

Beautiful sunny skies welcomed the Panhandle Winnies and the Mississippi Magnolia Travelers to Southwind RV Park in Foley, Alabama April 15-18, 2005.

A few of the group arrived on Thursday to play golf and visit the “Sweetie Pie” Bakery in Foley.   Attending from Mississippi were Roy & Arvilla Stoddard, John & Sally Sullivan, Ray & Thelma Weeks.  Wagonmasters John & Nadine Ware, Bob & Lou Duff and Slick and Catherine Sherouse provided the ham for Friday’s potluck dinner.  After dessert, cards were played and socializing continued.

Saturday morning campers woke to the chirping of birds with a light coolness in the air.  The early morning coolness quickly dissipated once the sun came out.  After a breakfast of pancakes and sausage provided by the wagonmasters, a brief business meeting was held.  The Magnolia Travelers and Panhandle Winnies gathered outside to enjoy games, sunshine and fellowship.  Later in the day, the group went to O’Charley’s in Foley for dinner.  Amid laughter, jokes, and one-up-man ship, the group settled down to enjoy the good food.

We were happy to have back with us members who had been absent for a while:  Jan and Kurt Eichorst and Terry and Mike Thompson.  Three new members joined this weekend:  Jonel & Bill Monroe, Janis & Terry Blose, and Barbara & Bob Friddle.

Sunday breakfast was served and we started saying our goodbyes to go home.  The May meeting will be held at Wolf Bay Plantation RV Park in Elberta, AL on May 20-23, 2005.
