         The 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Panhandle Winnies got under way on Friday, February 11 with an outing to the Fish Camp Restaurant in Summerdale, Alabama.  The group arrived early for the “early bird” or should I say “early fish” special.  After a delicious meal, the group returned to Palm Lake RV Resort in Foley, Alabama to play cards and socialize. 

         Pancakes were provided Saturday morning by the Wagonmasters, Bob & Rae Snyder, Micky and Esper McNair, and Marlan and Janese Truelsen.   Joining us for the weekend were John and Marlyn Fisher, Eastern Area Representatives.  Eleven rigs were in attendance for the weekend. 

         The Club’s 20th Anniversary was celebrated Saturday with a covered dish luncheon in the club house.    Past members of the Club in attendance were:  Ron and Rita Webster, Mary and Sam Hall,  John and Betty Parrish (charter members), Bernie and Joan Walker, Bob and Martha Drake, Earle and Liz Hedenberg, Seth and Annette Duff, Lee Knowles, James and Violet Avery (charter members), and John and Dottie Stabler.   Members received a lighter from Carpenter’s Campers the Club sponsor in recognition of 20 years of RVing.  The meal consisted of grilled chicken, pulled pork, salads, vegetables and a cake recognizing the club’s anniversary.  The cake was provided by the first president and secretary of the Panhandle Winnies, James and Violet Avery. 

         Door prizes were given out to all guests and members in attendance.  In addition to door prizes, a raffle was held to help defray the cost of the meal.  Items for the raffle were:  20th anniversary quilt wall hanging, hand made cedar folding table and lounge chair.  Lucky winners were Rick Patterson, quilt; Bill Allumbaugh, chair; Janese Truelson, table.

         After the meal, members and guests gathered to share stories and get to know everyone better.  The Club welcomed two new members this weekend:  Harold & Pat Jones and Gary and Bernie Toth. 

         The next chapter meeting will be April 15-17 at Southwind RV Park, Foley, Alabama.
