The Panhandle Winnies received their charter in 1985 as a local chapter of Winnebago-Itasca-Travelers (WIT).  The purpose of the Panhandle Winnies is to plan and conduct chapter rallies, trips and excursions.   The chapter pursues a vigorous program to improve the public knowledge of the enjoyment of motorhome activities and to provide for a basis for information interchange for travel and recreational vehicle use with a strong emphasis on safety.  The chapter ascertains areas of needed improvements in the travel and recreation public facilities; bring them to the attention of the appropriate governmental body and press for their resolution.   The chapter cooperates with all organizations having similar goals and aims of Natural Resources Preservation.  The chapter also provides, through identification with WIT, a basis for friendship and cooperation to members of other WIT Chapters, and to support WIT sponsored rallies and caravans.

WELCOME

The Florida Panhandle Winnies based in the beautiful northern Florida panhandle and south Alabama gulf coast cordially invite you to visit one of our monthly outings.  We are a relatively small, but congenial chapter, with a current membership of 32 units.  Our member's homes range from Tallahassee, FL to Lillian, AL.  We have had an average of about 20 members during the sixteen years of chapter existence.  We meet to promote motor homing and good fellowship among local Winnebago-Itasca motor home owners.  The major chapter activities revolve around the monthly outings and attendance at the Florida State Rally as well as those in surrounding states.  Other specific activities at monthly outings include:

Informal discussions of motor home maintenance with tips on
potential problem areas and do-it-yourself improvements

Show and tell of motor home renovations or improvements

Show and tell of craft ideas

Card and domino games

Outdoor games of Washer Toss, Beanbag Baseball, etc

Discussions of and travel to local interesting points

Discussions of future chapter travels or activities, and

Informal discussions on any subject, during any time period;
some true some otherwise

We try to meet the needs or desires of all members, with strong emphasis on fun, relaxation and general enjoyment.  We have members from all walks of life, retired, and working.  Because of the travel freedom in motor homes, some members may only attend 2 or 3 meetings per year.  Our biggest attendance is usually in November for our Thanksgiving gathering and for our December Christmas party.   We would love for you to visit one of our outings and let us get acquainted with you.  If you like what you see, you may join us or not, as you desire.  The only requirements are; belong to WIT and pay an annual membership fee to Florida Panhandle Winnies.  If you have any questions about WIT or the Florida Panhandle Winnies or would like to attend our next campout, give us a call.
