Panhandle Winnies
                          March 2002 Outing
                                     By Jan Eichorst

Our chapter did not have our normal monthly campout because of the 2002
Florida State Rally (Citrus Jubilee) held 16-19 March hosted by the
Winnie-Gators at the Central Florida Fair Grounds in Orlando.

This year, our Panhandle Winnies had 12 coaches in attendance for the festive
March event.  The weather was absolutely wonderful with sunshine during the day
and cool nights for the four days of the rally.  Seven Panhandle Winnie
couples took advantage of the early check-in to stop by the local flea
markets and take advantage of picking up delicious produce while others took
a wallet-emptying visit to the local Camping World store.

As they did last year, Winnebago Industries had a maintenance team at the rally
for 3 days to do on-site repairs.  The team had a maintenance coach/office and
was available to hear problems and schedule on-site repairs.  Several of our
club coaches were satisfactorily repaired during our stay.  Again, many
thanks go out to the maintenance team and their efforts.  The rally
entertainment on Sunday and Monday evenings took advantage of audience
participation and several of our members were recruited to assist on stage.
Needless to say, our other members took the opportunity to provide
additional good-natured harassment to our temporary actor members.  With
each state chapter assisting the state Winnie-Gators in the rally
activities, our Panhandle Winnies were responsible for the Wine and Cheese
Hour.  This event included the preparation and serving of three types of
wine along with tasty cheese to the rally attendees.  There were a number of
rally participants in the fiesta spirit that had to be encouraged to leave
the Wine and Cheese Hour to get ready for the evening meal and
entertainment.

On a sad note, we lost one of our beloved members in March.  Sarah Brown
wife of Hiram Brown passed away after a long bout with Alzheimer's.  She was
wonderful lady that will be truly missed by her family, friends, and chapter
family.

Our next campout will be held at Parker's Landing north of Biloxi, MS on
26-28 April with the Mississippi South Magnolia Travelers and then on 17-19
May we will meet at Wolf Bay Plantation in Elberta, AL.  Our chapter will
not officially meet in June, July, or August but will start again in
September.
