Seaside Winnies of Florida

Our December Rally brought us to Rock Crusher Canyon R.V. Park in Crystal River, Florida.  We had 12 coaches in attendance.  Some of us arrived early on Sunday December 2,2007.  Clare & Herb Fox hosted this Rally with Pam & Herb Carter in assistance although they couldn’t come due to family issues.  Our hosts did a fantastic job organizing and planning this rally.

After setting up those of us who arrived early got together to catch up on the last month’s news.  Later that afternoon we got together at our usual attitude adjustment.  The weather was beautiful so we set up outside somewhere in the middle since we were stretched out quite a bit. That evening after dinner at Applebee’s many of us met in the clubhouse for our usual card game of screw your neighbor.  No matter how many times we play this game it never gets old and we still have a ton of laughs.

Monday morning came and most of us just hung around waiting for the rest of the club to arrive.  As I’ve said the weather was great, so we enjoyed just sitting around chatting.  Later that afternoon we had our attitude adjustment making plans for our evening.  Our hosts decided to have a potluck and Christmas party rolled into one.  We all chipped in and bought hamburgers and hot dogs which were grilled by Frank Sementilli & Frank Caccavo who fought off the smoke and did a great job. We really enjoyed ourselves eating and chatting.   We had all brought one gift per coach to swap; however Clare Fox & Sharon Rose decide to switch things around.  Anyone was allowed to pick a previous gift if they wished.  It was a great deal of fun as someone thought they  had a great gift ( Bob Cook ) and all of a sudden someone else took it.  We all wished each other Happy Holidays and returned to our coaches.

Tuesday morning most of us went on a tour of Homosassa Springs  Wild Life State Park.  This was a great outing. The Park was beautiful right in the heart of the city.  There were three separate talks through the day.  First we attended the Wildlife encounter.  There were two park rangers who gave a great talk about birds of prey in Florida.   They had a hawk and an owl present and talked for about an hour.  Next we went to the Manatee pond  and saw a ranger get in the water (70o) and feed the Manatee’s sweet potatoes and carrots.  Many of us then experienced the floating barge Underwater Observatory and were amazed by the volume of fish and the depth of the springs.  Lastly there was a talk at the Alligator & Hippo pens.  A great time was had by all.  Later that afternoon at attitude adjustment we decided to go to Charlie’s Fish House for dinner.  It was a  really nice place right out on the Crystal River.  We occupied one long table of 22 old people laughing and making a lot of noise.

Wednesday morning we had a club meeting which lasted all morning.  Later we all were so exhausted we just hung around chatting.  After attitude adjustment some of us went to a steak house and some of us just stayed home for dinner.  Later many of us got together for another night of cards.

Thursday morning our hosts provided a great continental breakfast of muffins, coffee and juice.  After about an hour of chatting and eating it was time for hugs and goodbyes.  We all wished each other a safe trip home and a joyous holiday season.  See you all next Month.
