Our January Rally brought us back again to Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral, Fl.  We had 13 coaches in attendance with one guest coach Jim & Andrea Stoodley from Hollywood Fl. They liked us so much that they later joined our group, welcome Jim & Andrea.  This rally was hosted by Jackie & Neal Kelly and Gayle & Bob Cook.  Both of these couples did a great job of organizing and planning this rally.
As usual, Sunday has become the early day for most of us.  After setting up some of us went to lunch at this really nice place right by the Port of Cape Canaveral.  Later we all sat around catching up on any news we might share.  It had rained the night before and the campground was a mess with wet crushed coral everywhere.  Those of us who are fuss heads were nervous about the dirt on cars &coaches.  That afternoon most of us went down to the Port ( a short walk ) to see the giant cruise ships going out to sea.  It as sure a marvelous site.  That evening we all went to the rebuilt Corky Bell’s.  They had had a fire, which burned the place to the ground.  However, they have done a great job rebuilding it better than before.  We didn’t have access to the clubhouse that evening and every evening so no games for us and we were all very disappointed.
Monday morning we just sat around the campground waiting for the few of us who didn’t come on Sunday.  It was great chatting and getting together with great friends in this group.  The day went on and our other friends showed up in time for attitude adjustment.  It was decided that we would go to Fish Lips restaurant for dinner. With no games to go back for we lingered at the restaurant and all had a grand old time.
Tuesday morning we all got up early because our hosts had set up a day on the Sun Cruise Casino ship.  This was a great day.  The ship had set up a special room for us.  The provided food, drinks and snacks and of course all they wanted in return was for us to gamble.  They even gave us each $5.00 to start us off.  Some of us just enjoyed the day at sea while others enjoyed trying to strike it rich.  Herb Fox won over $300.00, however, he lost it all back plus a great deal of his own money.  Sue Chonoles, however, did win about $190.00.  The rest of us just lost.  We returned to the campground in time for our attitude adjustment.  It was fun listening to the various stories about the cruise.  We were all tired so we just retired to our coaches for the night.
Wednesday morning Emil & Bernie Gaudet decided to have our breakfast in a bag again.  Dave Chonoles did the cooking in his giant water pot.  It is hard to believe that this works but it is quite delicious.  After breakfast we had our club meeting which lasted all morning.  That afternoon most of us did our own thing waiting for our big party that evening.   Jackie & Neal Kelly organized a Pirate Potluck party in which we all had to dress up as pirates.  This was hilarious seeing what fools we could make of each other.  Jackie & Neal cooked a ham and turkey and the rest of us brought the sides and deserts.  We had a blast laughing at each other.  Later Jackie had prizes for the best dressed  and the worst dressed.  She also organized a game where each couple had to find 20 items in a bottle of birdseed. It was very challenging.  Later we had to leave due to the fact they were closing the clubhouse.  We then retired to our coaches for the evening.
Thursday morning Gayle & Bob Cook provided a great continental breakfast of juice, coffee, Danish and pumpkin bread.  After about an hour of eating and chatting it was time for hugs and goodbyes.  We all wished each other a safe trip home.  See you all next month.
