Our April Rally brought us to
Stagecoach R.V. Park in St Augustine, Florida. We had 12 coaches in
attendance. Some of us arrived early on Sunday April 1st and the rest of
us arrived on Monday April 2 nd. This rally was hosted by Bob & Joan
Senus who did a wonderful job of organizing and planning this event.
When we had all arrived and set up we had our business meeting at 3 pm in the clubhouse provided by the campground. Our hosts had set up a busy schedule for the week, therefore, we needed to get the business meeting out of the way. After the meeting we had our usual attitude adjustment. There has been so much food at these gatherings that President Emil Gaudet tried to cut it back but to no avail everyone still brought something. There was too much of course, however, many of us tried to accommodate and eat as much as we could. Dinner was on our own. The area had a ton of restaurants to choose from so we all went our own separate ways. Later that evening many of us met at the clubhouse to play games. It was decided that our old favorite "screw your Neighbor" card game was the choice. We again had a barrel of laughs, especially since we had members who had never played before. Tuesday morning breakfast was on our own. Later at 9 am we all met for our tour of beautiful St. Augustine. Our hosts Bob & Joan Senus had arranged a Red Trolley tour with our tour guide "crazy Danny". He did a great job taking us on the trolley to all the historic sites of St Augustine as well as informing us of all the little stories about the place. The tour included additional tickets for the trolley to be used at any time later that week. We were encouraged to go back and explore in more detail using the Red Trolley to get around. St Augustine is the oldest American city and there were many site to explore. Later that day we all met to exchange stories about we found in the historic city of St Augustine. Of course we couldn’t do this with out having some snacks to munch on. That evening we all went to the Conch House restaurant which our hosts had set up. The restaurant was situated on the water in a delightful location, which was ideal. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. Some of our group got sick later and others food was poorly prepared. Many were satisfied so it was a mixed bag. Later that evening those who were up to it played cards in the clubhouse. Wednesday morning we were all left on our own to further explore the city and use our Red Trolley tickets to examine all the historic sites and the myriad of little shops who were looking for our cash. That afternoon we met for our usual attitude adjustment. We had a lot of laughs talking about our trips for the day. That evening many of us went to the Kingfish Grill for more fish. This time, however, the food was excellent and there were few complaints. Some of us had had enough fish and stayed home for lighter fare. Thursday morning our hosts provided a great continental breakfast at the clubhouse. After about an hour of chatting and eating we started to give our hugs and say our goodbyes. Summer is getting close and for many of our members this was to be the last campout of the season. We all wished each other a safe trip home and hope to see you all soon.
