SEASIDE WINNIES of FLORIDA
February 2007 Outing
By Frank Caccavo
Our February rally brought us to Rally Park @
Lazy Days in Seffner,
Florida. We had 14 coaches in attendance with four
guest coaches taking us up on our Friendship rally. Bernie &
Emil Gaudet who did a fantastic job hosted this rally.
Some of us arrived on Sunday February 4, 2007 with the rest of our club arriving ay different times on the Monday. After setting up we had our usual attitude adjustment in the afternoon. However it was so cold we decided to have it in the rec hall provided by Rally Park. It was nice and warm in there and we introduced ourselves to our guests and caught up with each other’s stories. After munching on snacks for about an hour it was time to get down to business and discuss where we were going for dinner. The consensus was the Olive Garden. It was a large group of 32 so Emil was on the phone awhile. We drove in a caravan to Brandon and the restaurant. Once we got there we kind of took over the place. They were very accommodating and set us up with three long tables with us eating and chatting away. After dinner many of us met in the rec hall to play games and cards. One of our members introduced us to a card game called " screw your neighbor ‘’. We had a barrel of laughs as each of us got screwed by our neighbor. Lazy Days provides Breakfast and lunch free for the taking so we were on our own to take advantage. However, many of us got together over at the cafe. Bernie & Emil made some suggestions on how to enjoy the day i.e. Bush Gardens or Lowry Park Zoo and of course go look at coaches at Lazy Days. We all filled the day someway and met that afternoon for attitude adjustment. It started to warm up so we met at Bernie & Emil’s coach and formed up into this huge circle for our afternoon snacks. Dinner was a divided affair. Some of us went to the Outback for steaks and others went to Willie’s Fish House and some stayed home. After dinner we met again for cards. "Screw your neighbor" was so popular we tried it again and again it was hilarious. Wednesday morning our hosts Bernie & Emil decided to provide breakfast in a bag for the entire club. This sounded very strange to many of our club. However it was delicious. You place two or three eggs in a plastic bag and then put in whatever other ingredients you wanted i.e. cheese, ham, peppers, mushrooms or onions and sealed the bag. It was then placed in boiling water for awhile till they were cooked. It was great. However, due to the fact the group was so large it took quite awhile. After breakfast we had our business meeting in the rec hall which lasted till lunch. Bernie suggested that instead of lunch we could go to Parkesdale Farms for strawberry shortcake and strawberry shakes. Some of us went to Beef O’Brady’s for chicken wings and went for strawberry shortcake for dessert. That place was fabulous. The line was out to the street, however they run a top-flight operation and the line moved very rapidly. You got this huge bowl of strawberry shortcake with ice cream and whipped cream for about 3 bucks. Later we had attitude adjustment and for most of us dinner was out of the question since we were still burping strawberries. Later that evening we got together for some more cards and a lot of laughs. Thursday morning our hosts Bernie & Emil provided a sumptuous breakfast of different caked that Bernie had baked. Everything was delicious, and after we gorged ourselves we began our hugs and goodbyes. We wished each other a safe trip home. See you all at the State Rally next month.
