SEASIDE WINNIES of
FLORIDA
Our March Rally brought us to
Orlando Fairgrounds for the Winnebago State Rally sponsored by Winnies
Gators of Florida. We had 20 coaches in attendance.
We all arrived one day early, on Wednesday March 7, 2007, at the parking lot of Safe Rite Super market. We met so we all could go into the rally together. Our club was hosting the games for this rally and we needed the extra day to begin setting up. After meeting and driving to the Fairgrounds we then set up and low and behold it was time for our attitude adjustment. We all had said our hellos at the parking lot but it was time to relax and enjoy each other’s company. Soon out attention turned to thoughts of dinner. With such a large group it was difficult to all go together, so we all went on our own separate ways. Many of us went to the Olive Garden in two separate groups where we had a lovely dinner and a lot of fun. On Thursday morning Winnie Gators supplied lunch and dinner so breakfast was on our own. After breakfast we had our monthly business meeting. We had our meeting in the hall we were going to hold the games. It was a good time to check out what we were going to do about the games. That afternoon there was much to do with vendors, dealers with new coaches and all kinds of seminars. Later that afternoon there was a cake walk game in which all clubs had furnished baskets and cakes. Some of our club won several baskets. That afternoon we had our usual attitude adjustment discussing the events of the day. Later that evening dinner was sponsored by one of the dealers. There was supposed to be entertainment but it never showed up. We were disappointed but we laughed about it and went back to our coaches. Breakfast and dinner on Friday was supplied by Winnie Gators. After breakfast we were on our own to visit the vendors, dealers and seminars. Our Group met for a time to set up the games in the Hall. After lunch there was an Arts & Crafts show in which many from our club displayed their projects. They were well accepted, so much so that they all won prizes. That afternoon we of course visited the Ice Cream Social Winnie Gators put on. Later we attended our attitude adjustment were our craft members displayed there trophies. Dinner that evening was delicious and again sponsored by one of the dealers. This time there was entertainment. It was Tom Drake a stand up comedian. He was quite funny and we all laughed a lot. Saturday, after breakfast it was time for our club to do their job of hosting the games. For 3 hours we had a very large turnout between 200 - 400 people. It was hard to keep track what with some coming and going before they finished. We furnished 15 games of different skills which one of our members devised. Dave Chonoles did a great job and everyone was impressed. Our sponsor Suncoast R.V. furnished 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes which were well received. Later after lunch we settled down , we were tired. We had our attitude adjustment and congratulated each other on a job well done. Closing ceremonies followed a very good dinner. Entertainment was by Fred Moore’ best of Broadway, it was very good. Sunday morning breakfast was furnished by Winnie Gators after which we began our hugs and goodbyes.. Some went to the state meeting and others began to go home. All in all it was a great rally, especially since most of our club attended. We saw members we haven’t seen in awhile. Have a safe trip home see you in St Augustine.
