Our November Rally brought us to Seasons of The sun R.V. Park in
Mims Florida. We had 12 coaches in attendance. Some of us arrived
early on Sunday November 4th. The early day seems to have moved up from
Monday to Sunday for some reason. This rally was hosted by Pam & herb
Carter and Jim & Sharon Rose who did an outstanding job of organizing and
planning this event.
After setting up, those of us who arrived early got together to catch up on what we have been doing. For some of us this was the first rally of the season. Than Caccavo’s showed pictures of their site in Outdoor Resorts in North Carolina and the group was impressed with Frank’s rockwork. After a quick lunch at McDonald's we got down to serious business of our attitude adjustment where it was decided, since it wasn’t on the schedule, we would go to Dixie Crossroads for dinner. As usual it was great and we had the big room all to ourselves. Dinner took so long we didn’t have time for games, we were all tired anyway so we retired to our coaches. Monday morning came and we had breakfast on our own waiting for the rest of our club to arrive. It was a nice campground and most of us just hung around chatting with each other. It was decided that we would go for lunch to Titusville’s great attraction Kloiber’s Cobbler. Marie Caccavo only got the cobbler for lunch and complained bitterly that it wasn’t enough she remembers it much larger, however, it was still delicious. That afternoon many of the men played shuffleboard while the ladies chatted about what I’m not sure. Our Hosts the Carter’s & Rose’s decide to have a Thanksgiving Pot Luck that evening with them providing the turkey and the rest of us providing the sides. Herb Carter started cooking the bird in an outdoor rotisserie. The smell of that bird cooking permeated the entire campground and drove us nuts. Even though no one brought mashed potatoes there was a ton of food on which we all pigged out. After dinner many of decided to get together and play "screw your neighbor". This game has become a staple with our group and it is a great deal of fun. Tuesday morning we had our business meeting after which some of us went to lunch to Louie’s BBQ and usual it was very good. That afternoon one of our new member’s Don Levine gave a nice talk on Rail Road safety. It was extremely interesting providing us with little tidbits of information that most of us had never heard. After the talk we had our usual Attitude adjustment getting ready for dinner. Jim & Sharon Rose had made reservations at the Plantation House Restaurant at the Great Outdoors Complex where they live. They provided us with the big room as we had 24 people. The food was good, however, they only provided one waitress who worked her butt off but was a little overwhelmed. In spite of it all we had a great time which lasted over three hours. We all were so exhausted we decided to call it quits and retire to our coaches to rest. Wednesday morning we all had breakfast and lunch on our own. Many of us just worked around our coaches cleaning and fixing whatever. Sharon Rose set up a talk and tour of the Enchanted Forrest Sanctuary for that afternoon. However, no one wanted to go so she cancelled. That evening the Rose’s made reservations at the Whistle Junction restaurant. This was a buffet type place and the reviews were mixed. It was hit or miss about the food. In spite of it we had a great time just being with each other. It seems no matter what the situation we enjoy each other’s company. That evening we were off to the clubhouse for more "screw your neighbor" and more fun. Thursday morning our host’s the Rose’s provided a great continental breakfast. After about an hour of chatting and eating it was time for hugs and goodbyes. We all wished each other a safe trip home and hope to see you all soon.
