South Florida Winnie-Gators MAY 2007 OUTING REPORT By Becky Bunn Our May outing was held at Paradise Island RV Resort in Ft. Lauderdale. The 13th Annual Air & Sea Show, a seaside military extravaganza that draws hordes of spectators, offered an added attraction to the weekend activities. Thirteen motor homes attended including our guests and prospective members, Jim and Karen Dunn from Homestead, FL. Members Ed and Jan Miles commuted from home to participate and help with all the weekend activities. Thursday evening 14 members ventured out for a delicious seafood dinner at Old Florida Seafood House, a favorite in the area for seafood lovers! Friday was spent with the members either floating in the pool on their noodles, checking out the shopping areas, or catching a glimpse of the military might at the Air & Sea Show. We all gathered together at the clubhouse pavilion for our 4 PM Happy Hour and 50/50 raffle. Congrats to the Dunns, the Treusches, and the Peacocks for walking away with the 50/50 winnings. The great tunes provided by Peacock, Perry, & Co. were thoroughly enjoyed by all!! That evening our chefs, Bob O'Brien and Rick Bunn, grilled Bratwurst, and Italian and Chicken Sausages accompanied by sautéed onion and peppers for the evening meal. Dee-licious! After dinner, Marijo Bierie earned a meritorious service award for leading the Rowdy Bunch in a fun dice game of LCR! On Saturday morning our talented chefs, Rick Bunn, Ed Miles and Chuck Seager, prepared a yummy breakfast of pancakes and sausage with blueberry and strawberry toppings. After breakfast, Pat Crosby offered a 2nd session of jewelry making. Her collection of bracelets and earrings were amazing and inspired the creativity in all the participants. While the baby-back ribs were slow cooking in the electric roasters, the members were relaxing by the pool in the afternoon or simply enjoying their afternoon siestas! The outdoor covered patio area outside the clubhouse provided a perfect setting for another fun Happy Hour and Raffle. We were happy to have the Morgans and De Sepios (regular members) join us for our social time together on Saturday. The Raffle Babes, Damaris and Becky, wore attire that let everyone know that they were the "Life of the Party". Our bartender Chuck Seager kept everyone happy, especially those who received the eighteen raffle gifts that were given away. There were many great gifts including donations from the Crosbys, De Sepios, Allens, and Treusches! Our Saturday evening meal of grilled baby-back ribs was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The slow-cooked baked beans (thanks to Damaris) and the corn on the cob (thanks to Bob and Diane O'Brien), with delicious salads provided by club members, rounded off one of our best meals ever. Many thanks to Ed Miles for helping with the ribs! Bill, the campground manager, and his beautiful daughter Maria, joined us for dinner. In celebration of Conrad's birthday, we all enjoyed cake and ice cream to top off a great meal. Following dinner most of the group was ready to end the evening with a fun game of "Chase the Ace" (led by Damaris). Sunday morning's breakfast was an assortment of Publix bagels and cream cheese with Mimosas, in honor of all our dear sweet Mothers! After the Board of Directors' and general membership meeting, we bid farewell until next month's final outing (of the season) in the Keys
