SEPTEMBER 2006  OUTING REPORT

By Marlene Sholtes

We kicked off our fall season at Tropical Palms in Kissimmee.  15 rigs and one guest rig were in attendance, which was a good amount considering the high fuel prices, and our summer travelers and snowbirds have not all returned.  On Thursday, most of the group traveled to Joe's Crab Shack to enjoy their wonderful seafood.  We were joined by our prospective members, Joan and Ray Heath.

Friday afternoon a few went to Coldspot Creamery and enjoyed their delicious ice cream.  We were then treated to champagne to celebrate Debbie and Ken Perry's new Sunova.  Congratulations and many safe miles!  Also, two of our members, the Travers and Rowes have new tow cars, Saturn Vues.  Congrats to both of you too!  For dinner, Bob and Joan Gill prepared a Taco Salad with all the fixins.  They did a great job.  We were visited by Rick and Becky Bunn's daughter Kelly and her son Cole.  What a bundle of energy!  After dinner, some partook in a game of Card Bingo, conducted by Charlie and Damaris Travers.  The big winners were:  Marlene Sholtes (twice); Ethel Allen; Marge Shaughnessy; Bob Schoening; and Joe Sholtes.

Saturday morning we had pancakes and sausages prepared by George Shaughnessy and WC Herndon, and coffee, of course, prepared by Charlie Travers.  Our Arts and Crafts session was in two parts.  Joe Sholtes showed some of the men how to make a Floating Flag Pole.  They were quite impressive when they brought them to their rigs and flew them all weekend!  Marlene Sholtes showed a few of the ladies how to make a plastic canvas napkin holder.  They could not be finished in time so they will complete them at home.  We hope to see them finished next month.  Our Happy Hour Mickey Babes, Becky Bunn and Damaris Travers, direct from Disney, worked their magic and collected $425 from a smaller crowd than we are used to.  Bob O'Brien whipped up his Margaritas, and Joe Sholtes tended bar.  We were visited by George and Frankie Morgan just for the evening.  Also, guests of the Shaughnessy's, Jeff and Val Hastings, stayed for dinner.  Our dinner consisted of London Broil, Baked Potatoes, and delicious Salads, Veggies and Desserts made by the members.  The grill masters were Rick Bunn, George Shaughnessy, Bob Gill, and Marcel Drapeau.  Joan Gill fixed the baked potatoes and Becky Bunn marinated the steaks to perfection.  After dinner, a few people ventured over the Old Town to attend the 50's Car Show and Parade and some just stayed around and discussed their summer and upcoming events.

Sunday morning we had coffee, muffins with eggs and sausages that were expertly prepared by George.  We then had our monthly meeting and parted ways until next month.
