South Florida Winnie-Gators

MARCH  2005 Outing Report

By Lee Macdonald

Christmas Airstream Rally Park was the site of our March Rally. A total of 28 rigs attended including guests Marlyn & John Fischer, Eastern WIT Reps; Grace & Ray Bibisi, friends of the Gills; Ernie & Mary Ellen Tucker, friends of Al Rowe; Paul & Phyllis Majcher, Ed Weisman's cousin and wife from Ohio; Geff & Ingrid Purvis, neighbors of the Drapeaus, Jean Claude La Langlois, Marcel's cousin visiting from Quebec and Kelly, John and Cole, the Bunn's daughter, son-in-law and first grandchild and newest South Florida Winnie Gator.   The weather was delightful the entire time.

Thursday after most of us settled in we enjoyed getting caught up on all the news followed by hot dogs with all the fixins.  Friday many of the members spent the morning working on crafts and finishing up projects. Final touches were put on the P.S. Winnie-Gator, the boat wagon that Marcel Drapeau designed and built for the Florida State Rally. It will be the Basket of Cheer to be raffled off with proceeds going to the State Club sponsored charity H.E.R.D., Horses for Riders with Disabilities.  Several of our club members decked out in pirate regalia  will haul the wagon around at the rally selling tickets.  Later some members went on shopping expeditions while many of us just enjoyed the day. We were treated to a satellite launch during happy hour and we could follow the rockets course over the rooftop of the hall. All enjoyed Sloppy Joes and Damaris' slaw for supper topped off by Alice Webb & Joan Gill's yummy creamy dessert.  We all had fun playing Card Bingo afterwards.

We enjoyed a hearty breakfast Saturday morning. There are lots of things to see and do in the Titusville area and many of us enjoyed touring the seashore and wildlife refuge, visiting the cape and touring exhibits and museums. Our St Patty's Day Happy Hour was a huge success and we all had a good time. Corned Beef & cabbage feast followed and we all had our fill.

The Blarney Game was played and W.C. Herndon is the new champion Blarney Artist.  The game can be played by any even number of persons. Pairs of chairs are placed in a circle or semicircle and men and women are seated alternately.  The man gives the lady a line of " Blarney talk" for 30 seconds. Then the men move to the next lady and the process is repeated until the circuit has been completed. The ladies then vote for the man with the best "line of blarney" Lots of fun!

Sunday morning at our meeting we welcomed in new members Harvey & Silvia Peacock and Harvey 's sister Helen Carpenter.  Most of us will meet again in a few days at the Florida State Rally to fulfill our assignments as parkers.
