MAY 2008 OUTING REPORT By Marlene Sholtes Our May campout was held at Paradise Island in Ft. Lauderdale. Ten member coaches and one guest coach were in attendance. We were visited daily by four member couples. Jean Fantelli’s sister Carolyn DeBrower and her husband Tom Hackworth visited for Saturday’s happy hour and dinner. Friday afternoon, Jim & Florence Allen celebrated their new-to-them 2005 34-foot Suncruiser with a champagne toast. We wished them many happy miles! Our chapter has certainly kept Winnebago happy with our members purchasing their motor homes quite regularly. We had our 50/50 Happy Hour and Marge Shaughnessy was our new Raffle-Babe-In-Training, assisted by Jan Miles. The winners were Ginny O’Halpin, Marlene Sholtes and Jan Miles. Marijo Bierie tended the pots all day cooking up spicy beef for the Italian Beef Hoagie which was different and quite tasty. The members contributed some great desserts. Harvey & Silvia Peacock were celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary with us. The entertainment for the evening was Card Bingo. This is normally a rather sedate game but this evening John Bierie made it a little rowdy. The winners were: Rich Schmaeling & Ginny O’Halpin (who split the prize), Jan Miles (who won twice), Bob O’Brien and Joan Seager. Saturday morning, Rick Bunn & George Shaughnessy made omelets cooked to order. Everyone put their order in and received exactly what they wanted in their omelet. They did a fantastic job! After breakfast, Joe Sholtes helped a few members make CD Awning Spinners. The spinners came out quite nice, and they were happy with them. For happy hour, the Life Of The Party Raffle Babes, Becky Bunn and Damaris Travers, entertained us with their unique way of selling tickets. Their energy is unbelievable! Saturday dinner consisted of Hawaiian Luau Pork Chops expertly grilled by Rick Bunn and George Shaughnessy, Yellow Rice prepared by Jan Miles, and many side dishes and desserts provided by the members. What a feast! Our guests for dinner were the campground manager Bill and his adorable five-year old daughter Maria who entertained us with a hula and then sang her rendition of a Hannah Montana song. Too cute! After dinner we settled down to a quiet game of Chase the Ace. Of course, with 25 Rowdy Bunch members involved it can never be quiet, and there was a lot of spirited playing going on. It came down to a face-off between Bill DeSepio and George Shaughnessy and George won the big cash prize. Sunday morning we celebrated Mother’s Day with Mimosas accompanied by Bagels and Cream Cheese. We had our monthly Board of Directors and Membership Meeting when we voted and welcomed in newest members Bob & Estelle Armstrong. We then parted company until our next fun-filled meeting in the Keys!
