NOVEMBER  2006  OUTING REPORT

By Lee Macdonald

Our November Thanksgiving outing was held at Paradise Island RV Park in Fort Lauderdale with 16 rigs attending.

Thursday evening the group went to a local restaurant for dinner,

Friday afternoon we were all treated to a champagne toast by Chuck & Joan Seager in celebration of their newly acquired Winnebago Advantage. We wished them many happy miles. We enjoyed a surprise visit by former members Gary & Barbara Price who happen to live in the area, Gary is recovering from his second eye surgery which seems to be working to correct his vision problems.

Our Friday supper was Cincinnati style chili served over thin spaghetti, whipped up by Becky Bunn which we all enjoyed.

Afterward we all played BUNKO. Top winners were Florence Allen, Chuck & Joan Seager and Becky Bunn. Poor Charlie Travers held on to his title for finishing in last place.

Saturday was another beautiful day.  WC Herndon, Ed Miles and George Shaughnessy made us a delicious breakfast of sausages and blueberry pancakes.  For our crafts session Barbara Drapeau showed how to make a no-sew fringed fleece throw. Joan Seager made one in  pretty blue shades which goes nicely in her new rig.

We held our Happy hour and raffle on the rec hall covered porch.  The Pilgrim Babes arrived and sold lots of tickets. Some neat prizes were won.  Former members Chuck & Mary Ann Liotti joined us and we enjoyed their visit (even though they won 3 raffle gifts!).  Del & Joy Butcher visited and updated us on Joy’s mom Lora who suffered a stroke on Friday.

Our Thanksgiving Dinner was sumptuous, turkey, dressing and all the trimmings with delicious veggies prepared by the members. Pumpkin pie with whipped cream finished off the meal.

Following dinner Charlie & Damaris Travers lead us in playing Card Bingo. Winners were lucky Marlene English (who won twice) and Jim Wilson.

The proverb “Many hands make light work” is they way our group functions. Our good times come as a result of joint effort with every member contributing their skills and efforts, from the officers and board members to individuals who plan, cook, sell tickets, tend bar, lead activities, clean up and cheerfully do whatever is asked of them..
