SEPTEMBER 2005 Outing Report

By Barbara Drapeau

Our fall season of camping opened up at Tropical Palms Fun Resort in Kissimmee.  16 rigs, including 4 prospective members, arrived on Thursday and on Friday 3 more drove in, for a total of 19.  Super turnout for September!  Must be the high fuel prices!  Thursday after happy hour most of the group went out to Joe’s Crab House for some GOOD seafood and entertainment by the staff.

Friday morning we woke up smelling donuts cooking.  Marcel brought his donut machine along and made HOT donuts for everyone.  The hall smelled like a Krispy Kreme shop!. The afternoon was spent visiting and getting caught up on everyone’s summer travels and health problems. At 4 PM we started down to the hall for happy hour and snacks. Harvey Peacock brought his guitar and we all joined him for a Sing-A-Long.  He also recited some poems and put them to music.  Great fun for all. The Club supplied the supper which was spaghetti, meatballs, salad and ice cream.  After dinner we played Crazy Cards and we had one winner, Sue Wilson with $20 for high score. Sue is one of our prospective members.

Saturday morning we all gathered at the hall for breakfast of grilled sausage and pancakes. After breakfast the ladies got together with our new crafts chairman, Marlene Sholtes and her helper husband Joe. We all decorated sun visors with colored letters, paint and jewels.  What beautiful Masterpieces(?)!  Marlene & Joe decided to give out prizes and everyone won a magnet key chain for their effort.  We all had fun and sooooooooo many laughs.

Happy hour and dinner were moved up so people could go to “Old Town” and watch the Classic car show.  For dinner we ate wonderful London Broil & baked potatoes, provided by the club and salads, veggies and desserts provided by the members. No one went away hungry, that’s for sure!  Most people walked over to Old Town and some stayed at the hall, talking and exchanging jokes.

Sunday morning we had coffee and the real Krispy Kreme Donuts followed by our monthly meeting. After the meeting we all said our good-byes and we will see everyone at La Belle for the October camp out.
