South Florida Winnie-Gators

September 04 Outing Report
By Barbara Drapeau

The South Florida Winnies September Campout was held at Rally Park Seffner, FL.  During the day on Thursday 12 coaches came driving in.  There were a total of 16 who signed up but 4, had to cancel due to Hurricane Frances and the lurking of Ivan.  They were Al Rowe, the Morgans, Webbs and the Blackwelders. We hope you are all OK and things are getting back in place, so we will see you at La Belle.  Rally Park was most understanding and waived the fee for the "no shows."
Around 4:00 PM members started walking to the hall for Happy Hour.  We started asking "What's for dinner" and it was decided to order pizza and have it delivered to the hall. So Damaris Travers started taking pizza orders and collecting money and the Pizza Man was at the hall at 7:30 with 12 pizza's in hand...and every pizza was as ordered and everyone happy.  Most stayed around the hall chatting and catching up on everyone's summer travels.
Friday morning at 8:00 AM found members at the hall eating breakfast.  One nice thing camping at Rally Park is that breakfast and lunch is on Lazy Days RV Center.  After Breakfast some stayed around their rigs.  While others went out shopping for Saturday's Dinner. Chuck Liotte twisted his back putting up hurricane shutters and was in a lot of pain.  W.C. whisked him off to a local DR, and after some therapy and pain meds he got a little relief and was able to stay until Sunday morning.  Hope you're on the mend by now and will be pain free soon.  Friday's Dinner was being prepared and watched by Bob & Diane O'Brien.  Diane used her mother's authentic Italian spaghetti sauce recipe. It had 300 meatballs and Italian sausage.  The end product was awesome and worth all your work.  Great job Guys...At 4:00 PM members strolled in the hall for Happy Hour with snacks in hand and Ken Perry behind the bar....6:00 PM Bob and Diane carried out dinner...10 lb. Pasta and 5 gal of Sauce.  Club provided salad, bread and ice cream for dessert.  It was a feast indeed. There was enough pasta and sauce for everyone to take some home and have another meal. Because Ivan was lurking around Jamaica it was decided to have our monthly meeting on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM in case we would have to break camp on Sunday Morning.
Saturday morning members were enjoying breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and fruit.  After the meeting some members headed off to the pool while others got their rigs washed and waxed on site. After lunch a few ladies made their way to the kitchen and started preparing for dinner.  4:00 PM at the hall for Happy Hour Two Hurricanes blew in and made quite a stir....They were Becky & Damaris "Our Raffle Babes."  W. C. and Helen brought 4 guest for Happy Hour and dinner. They were Pat and Bernie Hiskey and Carol and Bill Kempter. After happy hour "The Boys" Bob O'Brian,J oe Sholtes and Bob Gill started cooking the Pork Tenderloins and they were cooked to perfection.  Club supplied the baked potatoes and members brought salad, veggies and desserts.
Sunday Morning Rick and W. C.  went after Krispy Kreame Donuts and members brought pots of coffee. Everyone bid farewell and until next month at La Belle safe travels.
