Spacecoast Winnies
GNR 2002

The Space Coast Winnies were well represented at GNR this year with 11 units attending.  Since we are a "Snowbird" chapter, members were to be found not only in the Florida State Row but also in the MilWit, Indiana, Ohio, 365, Handicap, and Designated Volunteer areas.  Even though we were spread thoughout the rally grounds we found time to meet with each other and catch up on activities since we last met.
Among our volunteers were Ken/Jo-Anne Buckley on People Movers, Ron/Darlene Christian Directing Traffic, Trudy/Bill Redmond with Jimmy/Lynn Fitts at the Front Gate and at the Arts & Craft display.  Betsy Davenport assisted with Bingo and Jimmy McNally helped MilWits with their 1st place Puckerbrush parade float.  Nancy/Dick Russell were everywhere.
Lynn Fitts’ cross-stitched picture of wild horses was the Best of Show winner in State Rallies competition for 2002, representing Florida Rally.
News of Max/Jean Kruichak’s accident in Idaho in their Winnebago reached us during the week.  Due to Max’s good driving and a great Winnebago product they were not injured seriously; however, the coach and tow car were totaled.
Our next meeting is in September when we hope to see many of the Snowbirds back in Florida.
