Space Coast Winnies
April Outing

By Lynn Fitts

The Space Coast Winnies held their April campout at The Oaks Campground in Bushnell, FL.   Fifteen member coaches were in attendance.
Members started arriving on Saturday for this fun campout, including prospective new members Bill and Ethel Bradford and Jack and Carolyn Harris.  Before the end of the campout, Space Coast Winnies had two new member coaches.  After the early-birds had set up, some carpooled to a local Chinese restaurant and enjoyed the wide variety of their buffet while the rest enjoyed a quiet evening in their coaches.
Sunday brought in the last 3 coaches and the outing began with a hospitality hour accompanied by a torrential rain.  We were not to be undaunted and many bravely arrived at the recreation room just in time for a sumptuous meal of homemade meatballs, sauce, pasta, and a garden salad.  Fran Daidone surely knows how to put together an Italian meal!!  She was expertly assisted by spouse Frank as  well as Fred and Edith McNally.  We all knew the outing was going to be another  huge success with this kind of beginning.  After dinner we had a 50/50 charity raffle and drawing for door prizes.  The raffle was won by President McNally who returned his 50% to our charity, Serene Harbor, a shelter for battered individuals.  We had four door prizes donated by our sponsor Sun Coast RV and there were 4 $50 winners:  Carolyn Harris, Helen Saller, and Sandi & Dale Kuckenbecker.  One of the Kuckenbecker’s winnings was also donated to Serene Harbor.   Following the drawings we held our monthly meeting
This campout was unusual for us - being held on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.  Our goal was to visit the Webster, FL Flea Market, which is only held on Mondays.  The decision was a good one as just as soon as we had eaten the super breakfast of pancakes and sausage we all headed out.  There were rows and rows and rows of produce, antiques, clothing, hardware, and more than you can imagine.  We also understand this was a slow day???  Needless to say, we got shopping out of our systems and were all so glad we made the effort to get there.  The weather cooperated exceptionally well as a Florida breeze kept most from overheating during our quest for bargains.  After returning to the campground and meeting together  to compare our finds, our Hosts provided a picnic of hamburgers and the trimmings.  Our members contributed their parts both nights with delicious desserts.
On  Sunday night the "card players" got together and added one or two more and played "Dimes", a dice game introduced by Chet Wasileski, that we play with pennies. You can count of lots of camaraderie with this game.
On Monday night, Helen Saller brought her Spinners domino game and we all enjoyed seeing who would have the lowest score.  It was Doris Wasileski who is a whiz at the game.
Tuesday morning we ate again!  This time the hosts served sweet rolls, cereal and bananas AND left over pancakes.  I saw many with some of it all.  What more could you want.  After breakfast the awnings went up and the chairs stowed for another time.  Another Great Camping Weekend for the Space Coast Winnies.
