Space Coast Winnies
December 2002 Outing

By Lynn Fitts
The Space Coast Winnies held their December campout at Stagecoach Campground in St. Augustine, FL.   Twelve member coaches were in attendance and one couple drove in  for our Wednesday activities and meeting.
Three coaches arrived on Monday in showers of rain.  The Tomosers, Buckleys, and Fitts ventured out to dinner at Marty’s, a great steak and seafood restaurant, just in time for happy hour and a great meal.  By mid-day Tuesday all units were parked and everyone was settled in.  There are two outlet malls in close proximity to the campground so, to get some early exercise in, Jo-Anne Buckley, Edie Tomoser, and Lynn & Jimmy Fitts walked over to the closest one for some looking and shopping.  During the course of the campout, most everyone found the malls.  Of course, there was time to get in a few card games too.
Unfortunately (or fortunately for the cooks) this campground doesn’t have a kitchen, so we took advantage of Sun Coast RV’s (our sponsor) monthly donation and ate out Tuesday and Wednesday nights.  Tuesday’s fare was Cuban/Spanish at the renown Columbia Restaurant and Wednesday night was primarily seafood at Barnacle Bill’s. The food was very tasty and the chapter certainly enjoyed the treat. An added attraction to our going into Old St. Augustine at night were the beautiful Christmas lights throughout the town and along the waterfront.  It certainly made for festive outings.
Tuesday night, after dinner Pat & Estle White led the group in playing Bunko. There were 12 members playing this fun dice game.   Winners were:  Most Bunkos-Jean Kruichak;  Most Kisses-Lynn Fitts;  Most Games Won-Pat White; and Least Games Won-Doris Wasileski.  This was a rousing competition and everyone had a lot of fun playing.
Activities on Wednesday included a craft project led by Iva Volkmer.  Angels made from Christmas garlands were made by several of the .  They will really make an attractive decoration for our home or motorhomes.
Following dinner on Wednesday we came back to the campground for coffee and desserts and our regular meeting.  Pat White gave all the ladies attending an attractive poinsettia Christmas pin which we all put right on.
The highlight of our meeting was the election of our 2003 officers who will be installed in February.  They are:
President,  Nancy Russell;  Vice President,  Ron Koehn;  Secretary,  Lynn Fitts;  Treasurer,  Max Kruichak;  Chaplain,  Veronica Koehn.
Thursday morning after coffee and freshly made coffee cakes, all traveled southward to meet again at Tropical Palms Campground in Kissimmee for the Florida State Winnie-Gator meeting in January.
