Spacecoast Winnies
December 03 Campout

By Lynn Fitts
The Space Coast Winnies held their December campout at Christmas Airstream Park in Christmas, FL.   There were 10 member coaches and an additional 8 couples drove in for our meeting and dinners for the weekend.  On arrival, the rec hall (already dressed in Christmas finery) was decorated even more by Veronica Koehn and Nancy Russell.
To begin this holiday event, the Koehn’s and Russell’s prepared a sumptuous biscuit and gravy breakfast on Saturday morning.  Later that morning at our regular meeting, officers for 2004 were elected.  They are  President - Nancy & Dick Russell;  Vice President - Ron & Veronica Koehn; Secretary - Lynn & Jimmy Fitts; and Treasurer - Jack & Carolyn Harris.  Officers will be installed at our February meeting at KARS Park on Merritt Island, FL.  At the end of the meeting sheets with "find-a’word" puzzles and Christmas Trivia questions were passed out with instructions to complete and bring back after dinner.
Cards came out during the afternoon finding Jean Kruichak, Jean Stover, Veronica Koehn, Betty & Herb Jones, and Lynn Fitts playing 3-13.  Across the room Dom & Arlene Grisanzio and Ralph & Nettie Bibbo were seen with cards in their hands as well.
Holiday music started during the afternoon near Happy Hour and the hosts began final preparations for the Christmas dinner of honey baked ham and parmesan potatoes.  Members furnished other side dishes and desserts.   Following dinner President Nancy  went over the answers to the Christmas Trivia questions and then conducted a Holiday Trivia competition between the men and the ladies.  By the time the game was over, it was very hard to tell which group had won since everyone wanted to help the other with answers.
The December meeting traditionally is one where the Chapter collects donations for our charity, Serene Harbor, a home for abused women and children.  In addition, the Chapter makes a monetary donation and proceeds from 50/50 raffles are earmarked for this cause.  After the meeting concluded, Lynn & Jimmy Fitts filled their car and delivered quite a variety of  items such as food, paper goods, toiletries, and clothing along with two checks to them.
The next campout will be with the WinnieGators at Travelers Rest Campground in Dade City, FL on Jan. 9-11.
