Space Coast Winnies
March 2002 outing

By Lynn Fitts

The Space Coast Winnies held their March campout at the Florida State Rally in Orlando.   Nineteen member coaches were in attendance.

The Space Coast Winnies were in charge of the pre-rally Cash Bingo on Friday night so several coaches arrived early to work on this project.  Chet Wasileski, Hank Saller, Fred McNally, and Ron Koehn sold Bingo cards.  Helen Saller called numbers, assisted by Jimmy Fitts, and Edie Tomoser, Doris Wasileski, Edith McNally called back winning numbers.  There were approximately 160 Rally participants who played Bingo.

All of the members attending the Rally enjoyed the planned activities during the weekend as well as looking through the many Winnebago Rvs on display from the five dealers supporting this function.  The Vendor area was full of a myriad of businesses who were solicited by our members Bill & Trudy Redmond, who were in charge of Vendors.  There was a wide array of products and services available for rally-goers to select from.  Another major component of the Rally was the seminars offered.  This segment was conducted by Space Coast members Dick & Nancy Russell.  As always, the seminars were well attended and covered a wide range of topics.

The other assignment Space Coast Winnies held was the popular Book Exchange on Monday.  Edith McNally ably coordinated this assisted by the other ladies in our Chapter.  Proceeds from the sale, $12.25, was donated to the Prader-Willi Foundation charity supported by the Winnie-Gators.

When the work was done each day, we all gathered together for "happy hour" to discuss the days events.  Everyone attending was very pleased to have been there and especially those who won prizes.  They are:  Lynn Fitts, blue ribbon and Best of Show for counted cross-stitch picture of three horses;  Eulaine Eri, red ribbon for her painting; Ann Metz, red ribbon for necklace constructed of gold wire with a gemstone pendant; and Betty Weithman, blue ribbon for throw beautifully decorated with Swedish Weaving.  Other prizes won were Ken & Jo-Ann Buckley, $200 Food Gift Certificates and Dick & Nancy Russell, $50 money hat.  We would be remiss in not mentioning Jean & Max Kruichak who sold chances for the Monday Money Hat raffle.  Their sales added several hundred more dollars to the Prader-Willi Foundation charity.

Monday noon found almost everyone gone from the Fairgrounds.  But all left with a "See you next month at the Oaks Campground in Bushnell".
