Space Coast Winnies
October 2004 News Release

By Lynn Fitts
The Space Coast Winnies held their October campout at the Ocala Ranch RV Resort in Ocala, FL.   There were 8 member coaches in attendance.  This campout was held during the Winnie-Gator state campout.  Because of the rash of hurricanes during August and September this was the first opportunity for our group to get together since GNR.
Rigs began rolling in Thursday and by Friday everyone had arrived.  Of course, our first conversations were about hurricane damage and the health of those who had been under the weather.  We learned most of our members were fortunate and did not suffer too much structure damage.  The Tomosers did have some roof problems, which seemed to be the worst for our group.
The Winnie-Gator officers did a good job in providing local tours for attendees and arranging excellent catered meals.  Space Coast members also were recipients of several door prizes donated by Florida sponsoring dealers.  The weekend was all too short to work in everything.
Our article would not be complete without mentioning our card games.   Jean Kruichak and Betty Jones recruited players each night and lively games of 3-13 were played.  Thumper and Iva Volkmer provided lessons in "Merritt Island Bridge" enjoyed by Nancy Russell, Betty Jones and Lynn Fitts.
Sunday morning home made donuts by Barbara and Marcel Drapeau were available for those not  leaving really early.  With beautiful weather and great camaraderie this was another great campout by our Chapter.
