Space Coast Winnies
September 2002 Outing

By Lynn Fitts
The Space Coast Winnies held their September campout at the Camelot RV Park in Malabar, FL.   Eleven member coaches were in attendance. This campout marked the 30th Birthday of the Space Coast Winnies and we were fortunate to have two of our charter members (who are still very active) in attendance:  Gussie Kremer with Ernie Moniga and Jack and Ruth Buchert.

Friday afternoon Max & Jean Kruichak arrived in their brand new Adventurer.  Everyone was anxious to get the "grand tour" as soon as Max could get the slides out.  The rest of the afternoon found us in the rec hall mainly talking about our summer travels.  Hosts Jeanne and Bob Miller and the Kruichaks furnished delicious pizza for dinner after which we held our monthly meeting. Highlights of the meeting were the receipt of our 2002 Chapter of Excellence pins and preliminary discussion about our holiday involvement with our charity, Serene Harbor, a home for battered individuals.  Members will be bringing their personal donations to the November meeting.  Games of domino Spinners and Chinese checkers rounded out the evening.

Following a wonderful breakfast of pancakes and sausage several traveled to Sebastian, FL to an Arts & Crafts Fair.  This was a successful venture as everyone came back with a purchase.  Cards, puzzles, and more socializing was the fare for the afternoon culminating with a pot luck dinner and the chapter birthday celebration.  Guests for the Saturday party included honorary members Don & Muriel Kraft, and Mozelle Kirby, along with former members Dale and Theola Barnett.  During Saturday afternoon the Buchert’s granddaughter and great-granddaughter visited with us and got just a little bit more spoiled with all the attention..After dinner, many walked across the road to the Park’s pier in the Indian River to enjoy the wonderful breeze and restful waters.  Once dinner had settled, card games were once again enjoyed for several hours.

Sunday morning after coffee and muffins, all went their separate ways to meet again at the Winnie Gator State Meeting at Lake Placid, FL in October.
