Ocala Sunbirds
May 2008 Outing

The May meeting started out with great weather, most of us arrived on Thursday. There were only five of our members that attended. They were the Aldridges, Dunns, Cremers, Scholtiseks, and the Spillers. Even though there were only ten of us, we mixed with all of our other friends that were there from others clubs. After awhile you get to know a lot of people, and it is nice to mingle with everyone.
They had Breakfast at Lazy Days Friday and Saturday morning from Eight till Nine AM, and a Grill Fest at Camping World, from Ten AM till Two PM, Friday and Saturday. That was pretty neat, you could go over to Lazy Days for Lunch between 11:00 and 1:00 then go over to Camping World. At 2:00 PM there was a Seminar on Insurance, by Linda Smart-Florida Dept. Of Financial Services at the Rec. Hall. It was a very informative seminar. At 4:00 PM was Happy Hour and a 50/50 Raffle. At 6:00 PM - We had a Catered Spaghetti Dinner - It was great. After dinner several members played Bingo with the Other Camping Group that was there, they had invited us to join them so quite a group of us joined them. We had a good time, a few laughs, but none of us won any money. The rest of our groups played games and cards.
Saturday morning came with Breakfast at Lazy Days if you wanted to catch the tram over To Lazy Days. After breakfast at 10:00 AM there was a General Membership Meeting in the Rec. Hall. Linda announced that there were 310 coaches at the March Rally in Orlando. Three new couples were introduced, they are new Members of the State Club. Linda also announced that the state club had forty new members. She also announced that Saturday nights raffle will have thirty prizes, and you will get 21 tickets for five dollars. The nominating committee will be looking for a president, vice president and a secretary to vote on in January. New by-laws were voted on and approved. GNR was discussed. 3:00 to 5:00 was Happy Hour,Wine and Beer was provided and snacks were provided. We had the big raffle at happy hour.Six o’clock we had a catered Baked Chicken dinner, it was delicious. Linda announced that they raised enough money on the raffle to cover her expenses at GNR, she was very grateful. After dinner Homer Noodleman was supposed to entertain us, but he never showed up. Everybody was very disappointed.
Sunday morning comes too soon, everyone said their good-byes. It was wonderful getting together with all of our friends. Hope everyone has a great summer. See you in the Fall !
