Ocala Sunbirds

April 2008 Outing

The April meeting started out with great weather, we had eleven Rigs come in on Thursday. We did not do much but get settled in, and caught up on our travels and happenings. Most of us decided to go out to dinner in Crystal River, that got a little mixed up, but I guess everyone got a meal. We came back and played our favorite game Dominos.
Friday started out with a continental Breakfast, several of our members ventured out for a cup of coffee and some goodies, but on a whole I don’t think it was a good turnout. After breakfast at ten o’clock our Master Gardener, Jo Leyte-Vidal gave us a Gardening Presentation. It was wonderful, it was very interesting. We had Jo answering questions, for all of us for nearly two hours. We are very lucky to have such a smart lady in our club, that we can go to at anytime for information. After the presentation we had lunch together at the club house. The last two rigs came in during lunch hour. After lunch members went their separate ways some to rest and some just to visit, until Happy Hour at 3:30 PM we all met at the Club House for Happy Hour, we just has light snacks, but Sandra Parker just had to bring her delicious Salmon Dip, nobody complained. For dinner the Hosts prepared Beef Stew, and the rest of the members brought the salads and the desserts, (it looked like we were having a contest for the best dessert) everything was delicious. The Hosts were Nancy & Gene Vanaman and Barbara & Chuck Dunn.
After dinner was cleaned up, members continued bringing their donations for the Silent Auction  to the Club House. Also members could play cards or games of their choice. There was a group of five that played Polka until after ten o’clock.
Saturday started out another beautiful day, the sun always shines on the Sun Birds. We went to the Club House for another Continental Breakfast.  The club meeting began at ten o’clock, several things were discussed, one of them being we need some new members, our membership is dwindling. A few more members showed up this morning, but not enough to continue spending time and money on this project.  A new Sheriff was appointed since George has not been around, he will be Chuck Dunn. After the meeting Jo Leyte-Vidal had a project for us, we had to have a partner and she gave us a newspaper, and a list of things that we had to find in the paper. Well it wasn’t easy, the one who got the most right answers were Margaret and Ron Scholtisek and they won the prize. Congratulations! We all met for Lunch at the Club House. We skipped Happy Hour at the Club House so they could get it set up for the evening dinner, so we ended up at the Vanaman’s rig for Happy Hour, never miss a Happy Hour. Spaghetti Dinner tonight served by the campground, it was great per usual. After dinner we ended the Auction and announced the winners of the items up for sale. After the auction we were Entertained by Randy with two hours of Music and dancing by our members, we all had a great time. I am sure we felt it in the morning.
Sunday morning at 8:30 AM we went over to the Club House for a Full Breakfast, of
eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, hash browns, toast, coffee and juice. What a way to end a  beautiful weekend. We all said our Good Byes, see you at the next camp-out.
SEE YOU ALL IN MAY, GOD WILLING
