Florida
Suncoast Winnie-Gators There were 65 coaches from the Florida chapters in attendance. We had a turn out of 15 coaches from our Suncoast Winnie-Gators chapter. As usual many of us arrived early on Wednesday and Thursday, anxious to start our fun filled weekend at the Travelers Rest Resort. On Thursday night we had a pot luck dinner and there were many delicious dishes brought to share. It was good getting together and visiting with each other…. Friday was pretty much a free day to enjoy all the amenities the park had to offer such as golf, pools, and lovely gardens to stroll through and a nice little café down by the lake. However it was a little chilly for any pool activities. That evening we had a wonderful catered Spaghetti dinner with salad and dessert. After dinner some of us gathered for cards/games at the recreation hall. Saturday started with a wonderful breakfast served by the Funtime Travelers. After the breakfast we had a general meeting for the state and after the meeting there were door prize drawings. Several of our chapter members won nice gifts that were donated by local RV dealers. After that we followed with our own chapter meeting. We welcomed our newest members the Beckners and Lamphears. Then the day was filled with all kind of fun activities…. In the afternoon there was a flea market (inside since the weather had turned very chilly) where many of our members sold and bought merchandise. Also there was beanbag baseball later in the afternoon. Some members went to Historical Dade City, which is filled with antiques and specialty shops. That evening once again another fabulous meal (Sweet n Sour Chicken with a yummy Orange Cake) was catered for us. Again games in the Recreation hall were available. Some of our group went to a Sock Hop that the park residents hosted and invited us to attend. On Sunday there was a Continental Breakfast and a nice Sunday church service conducted by Chaplain Barbara King. After we said our good-byes we went to pack up our rigs and headed home…looking forward to our next exciting campout. Submitted by: Contact: President - Pete Schmittzeh
