Florida Suncoast Winnie-Gators

January 2005 Outing

Our State meeting was held January 28-30th, 2005 at Turning Wheel RV Resort, Ocala, Florida

There were 84 coaches from the Florida State chapters in attendance.  We had a great turn out of 20 coaches from our Suncoast Winnie-Gators chapter.

As usual many of us arrived early on Thursday, anxious to start our fun filled weekend at the Turning Wheel RV Resort.  On Thursday night we had a pot luck dinner and there were many delicious dishes brought to share.  It was good getting together and visiting with each other….

Friday was pretty much a free day to enjoy all the amenities at the park had to offer and the local area.  There was a RV dealer next to the park that offered a hot dog lunch. Our usual Happy Hour was at 4 where many delicious snacks were brought by chapter members to share. That evening we had a catered dinner of Sloppy Joes with Caesar salad and a choice of Peach or Apple cobbler dessert.  After dinner some of us gathered for cards/games at the recreation hall.

Saturday started with a wonderful catered breakfast served by Rainbow Catering Service who provided all the meals this weekend.  After the breakfast we had a general meeting for the state where we voted on the new officers for 2005.  From our chapter the following were voted into office.  Dan & Linda Tuzzolo, 1st Vice President, Ed & Vicki Horwath, 2nd Vice President, Dick & Sally McKay, Secretary, and Pete and Barbara Schmittzeh, Treasurer. After that we followed with a brief get together with our own chapter members.  We welcomed our newest members the Ron & Donna Wacker and Robert Lee & Charlotte Gard.  Then the day was filled with all kind of fun activities…. In the afternoon there was a flea market where many of our members sold and bought merchandise.  Some of the men enjoyed playing horseshoes.  Also there was beanbag baseball later in the afternoon.  Some members went to the local flea markets.  We had happy hour at 4 and later that evening once again we enjoyed another meal (Turkey dinner with all the trimmings and a delicious Pecan pie) and after the dinner there were door prize drawings.  Several of our chapter members won nice gifts that were donated by local RV dealers.  Again games in the Recreation hall were available.

On Sunday there was a Continental breakfast of muffins, juice & coffee served by our hosts.  After we said our good-byes, we went to pack up our rigs to head home…looking forward to our next exciting campout, which will be a state meeting at the Turning Wheel Resort in Orlando
