Florida Suncoast Winnie-Gators

January 2006 Outing

Our state meeting was held January 20th – 22nd, 2006 at Tropical Palms - Kissimmee, Florida

There were 81 coaches from the Florida chapters in attendance.  We had a turn out of 21 coaches from our Suncoast Winnie-Gators chapter. The weather for the weekend couldn’t have been more beautiful with tropical days and cool evenings.

As usual many of us arrived early on Wednesday and Thursday, anxious to start our fun filled weekend at the Tropical Palms Resort.  There are so many things to see and do in this area when we camp here.  Disney, Universal, Old Town are just a few of the many area attractions to visit. On Thursday night we had a potluck dinner and there were many delicious dishes brought to share.  It was good getting together and visiting with each other…. Some of the groups went out to eat at one of the many fine restaurants in the area.

Friday was pretty much a free day to enjoy all the amenities that surround the park or just hang out with your friends and catch up on what they have been doing.  At Happy Hour around 4 we shared snacks and socialized.  That evening we had a wonderful catered BBQ dinner with cobblers for dessert.  After dinner some of us gathered for cards/games at the recreation hall.

Saturday started with a wonderful catered breakfast served by Rainbow Caterer.  We had Scrambled eggs, sausage and biscuits & Gravy.  After the breakfast we had a general meeting for the state and after the meeting there was a 50/50 drawing.  Shortly after that we followed with our own chapter meeting at Bill & Marie Franzen’s motorhome.  We welcomed guest Ty & Brenda Martindale.  Then the day was filled with all kind of fun activities…. In the afternoon there was a flea market where many of our members sold and bought merchandise. That evening once again another fabulous meal (Roasted Chicken with all the trimmings and Apple Pie) was catered for us.  Again games in the Recreation hall were available. Some of our group went to Old Town where there was a Antique Car show.

On Sunday there was a Continental Breakfast and a nice Sunday church service conducted by Chaplain Barbara King.  After we said our good-byes we went to pack up our rigs and headed home…looking forward to our next exciting campout.
