Campout

Our November, 2003 Campout was a celebration of our Chapter’s 30th Anniversary. Our hosts: Carol & Rich Cook and Carolyn & Ray Porter did a great job. The campout was attended by the following: Bensels, Blakeneys, Cooks, Franzens, Haynes, Hizers, Horwaths, Johnsons, Keeners, Knights, Lee & Mayer, Maenners, Martins, Myers, Petersons, Porters, Schmittzehs, Schurechts, Swetlands, Woods (J) and Wood (W). We also had as guests, Dan and Linda Tuzzolo, who joined our Chapter before the end of the campout. We started the festivities on Friday evening with a wonderful spagetti dinner catered at the RV Park. After dinner, there was dancing, cards, etc. for all to enjoy.

After a wonderful breakfast prepared by our hosts, we had our business meeting with President, Jarvis Wood presiding. The election of officers was held at this meeting, with the following Officers being duly elected for the year 2004: President, Pete Schmittzeh; 1st Vice President, Carol Cook; 2nd Vice President, John Maenner, Secretary, Cindy Crutchfield; Treasurer, Carolyn Porter; Directors: Norm Blakeney, Bill Myers and Gail Wood.

Saturday afternoon many of us enjoyed a line dancing class given by Bonnie Martin. Later, Donna Haynes instructed a few of trhe ladies on making a "Gator" for our name lanyards. Our dinner Saturday evening was "North Carolina Bar-B-Que" prepared by the Cooks and Porters. Our dessertr was Anniversary Cake, Champagne and Sparkling Cider, donated by Harberson Swanston of Holiday. They also were very generous in that they supplied many gifts for our Anniversary Celebration. Each coach was able to take home a prize. There was also a free night from Blueberry Hill RV Resort and the grand prize was a free weekend with golf, donated by Clerbrook RV Resort. The program concluded with June Keener and Darlene Schurect giving some history of the Chapter, as well as a "fashion show" of apparel worn over the years by the members.

Afterward, some of the members played cards, etc. and many enjoyed dancing and listening to the music.

Sunday, we all said our farewells after a continental breakfast. This was a really great Anniversary Celebration.
