Eleven coaches from the Florida Sunshine Winnies participated in our rally with 10 arriving on, Thursday November 13th, 2008 at the Manatee Hammock in Titusville, Florida. The group consisted of the Bock’s, Cinader’s, Collin’s, Dunn’s, Dzwonkowski’s, Garvin’s, Janowich’s, Pierce’s, Schultz’s Stewart’s, and the Underwood’s. We had lunch on our own on Thursday, and met for the planned social hour at 4:00 pm. Dinner that night was heavy appetizers provided by all. Thursday night most of us gathered in the pavilion and played cards, and the nickel game. Thank goodness enough of us had some portable lighting, to light the pavilion, as it was under repair and had no working lights. With the lighting provided by several members we were still able to make use of the pavilion, for all of our planned activities.

Friday morning we all awoke to have a pot luck breakfast provided by all. After breakfast we all had the chance to go shopping and to visit the local motor home dealerships. Happy hour was at 5:00 pm and the dinner followed at 6:00 pm. For dinner we had Chili dinner with the toppings, with salad and bread. Our highlight of the trip was the shuttle launch across the river from the campground. We all had the chance to see the space shuttle launch at 7:55 pm that evening. It was so close we had an excellent view of the spectacular night launch. The girls got together after the launch and played more nickel games in the pavilion again.

Saturday we had a breakfast at 8:00 am of pancakes and sausage, provided by our hosts Vince and Joan Janowich, with the help of Jack Collins at the grill. Our membership meeting was held after breakfast cleanup was finished. We then had the afternoon free to shop and look for deals at the garage sales near by. The girls returned in time before dinner to do craft work together again. Dinner time was a little before 6:00 and was a delicious Thanksgiving style dinner, with turkey and pumpkin pie and all the many dishes normally reserved for Thanksgiving dinners. After dinner the evening was spent by many for a gathering of card games.

Sunday we had a biscuit and sausage breakfast provided by our host, with Jack Collins at the grill again, cooking eggs to order. While some members left, after breakfast, still others stayed for an additional day that had been planned, because the shuttle was originally scheduled for a Sunday night launch, but had launched earlier, on Friday night instead.
