The Florida Sunshine Winnies  Christmas party was held at olde Mill Stream on December 3-5 in Umitilla, Florida.  There were five coaches in attendance, the Collins, Browns, Johnsons, Tuttles and the Schultzs. Also in attending on a day basis were Dick and Dee Sachtjen.  Even though the group was small  a great time was had by all the attendees.

The weather was perfect for our Friday night soup and chili dinner.  The tables were beautifully decorated by Opal Tuttle and Peggy Collins.  Candles, snowman and greenery made the room very festive.  After dinner the group sat in front of the fireplace and watched TV.

Saturday’s breakfast was held in the recreation hall.  Opal Tuttle made sausage gravy and biscuits, which was delicious.

The ladies got together and practiced one stroke painting on glass vases.  There was a lot of erasing and starting over.  Finally, we had to settle on one design and that turned out nice. We were very satisfied with the finished project.

The ladies toured the area around Umitilla.  We went to a cemetery where some of the headstones dated back to the eighteen hundreds.  Some were soldiers of the Civil War, with confederate flags flying over the grave.

Our Christmas meal was a scrumptious pork roast prepared by Jack Collins. Most everybody went for seconds and some even had third.

Oh, what fun we had at the Chinese Christmas gift exchange.  Some of the most interesting gift-wrapped packages were selected over and over.  The gag gifts ranged from nice to ridiculous.

Afterwards we listened to Christmas music and enjoyed each other’s company.

A nice time was had by all.
