Christmas
Airstream Park
December 2005
Christmas, Fl
What a great campout!
Treasure Coast Travelers joined Space Coast Winnies (SPW) and Sea
Side Winnies (SSW) in Christmas, Florida for our December campout.
There were three rigs attending Billy & Gail Barnes, Barbara
& Ralph Wilson and Ann & George Metz so we met on the road and
caravanned to the park so that we could park together.
The Wilson’s and Barnes’ encountered some difficulty
keeping up with “lead foot” Annie.
Ann really moves that RV!
Frank Mays built an
easy-to-assemble frame for our TCT banner which provided an easy set-up
taking about 5 minutes. Believe
me everyone at this campout knew the Treasure Coast Travelers were there!
We looked great, thanks Frank.
First let me thank these two
chapters SCW and SSW for all the hard work and planning that went into
this campout. What a hard
working, organized group of folks. Each
of these chapters provided either happy hour or meals.
I might add that a very complete schedule was provided to us by SPC
President Ron Koehn and SSW President Stan White in advance so that we
were all on the same page. Thanks
Ron and Stan for keeping us straight.
Both groups worked together and planned a fun-filled weekend that
kept us busy.
The members were extremely
friendly and welcomed us with open arms (literally). Ron Koehn assisted us with parking then greeted us with
hugs and a friendly welcome. Several
members of SSW were waving at each rig as we pulled into the park yelling
“welcome” to the campout. What
a great reception! Almost
immediately we had members of both groups visiting us making sure that we
joined them for happy hour before leaving for our Christmas dinner at
Dixie Crossroads.
Their schedule included
games and recreation after dinner but with the journey there, setting up
and dinner out, we found that we just wanted to turn in for the night and
be fresh for the next day’s activities.
Ever heard of starting your
day with a good breakfast?…well, thanks to Sea Side Winnies we all
started our day with a great breakfast.
Our day’s activities included attending the Christmas Craft Show
which was an eye-opener! There
were wood crafters, glass crafting, crochet and knitted items, home-made
goodies and then to top it off there were drawing for some of the items
that were created. Lucky Gail
& Billy had their number drawn and won a neck warmer.
The SCW participated in a “show and tell” for their sponsor.
TCT returned to the
campground to have our business meeting and elect officers for 2006.
They are President Billy Barnes; Vice-President Gail Barnes;
Secretary Barbara Wilson and Treasurer Ann Metz.
Barbara and Gail will work together to put out newsletter out each
month and Ralph Wilson volunteered to schedule our campout for three
months.
Happy hour led into dinner
provided by Space Coast Winnies. Chicken
Tetrazini and sides was prepared by their resident cook and it was
fabulous. We were
totally impressed with the meal, the group of servers, helpers and clean
up crew. Thanks to the Space
Coast Winnies for a wonderful dinner.
We participated in games led
by Thumper, sang Christmas songs Karaoke style with Iva on the mike and
participated in a “white elephant” gift exchange. A lot of laughing and joking kept the spirits high and
everyone had a ball!
Sunday morning at the
continental breakfast TCT members thanked the two chapters for inviting us
to the rally. We all had a
great time and hope that we will be camping with them again in the near
future.
Merry
Christmas and Happy New Year! See
you in 2006.
Barbara and Gail
