Seasons in the Sun, Titusville
December 10, 2004
Our
December campout was held at Seasons in the Sun in Titusville, with
seven rigs in attendance. Those
attending were: George
& Ann Metz; Bob & Joyce Somerday; Art & Odette Hayes; Dick
& Sheila Lemoi; Billy & Gail Barnes; John & Joanne Huff; and
Frank & Fran Daidone. We
welcomed Dick and Shelia Lemoi as new members and look forward to many
campouts with them. Areas
around the campground were enjoyable with numerous wilderness areas to
visit. The Merritt Island
National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore were
interesting for the nature lovers in our group.
Billy & Gail happened upon a special treat by finding an area
for viewing manatees. Season
in the Sun is one of the more beautiful campgrounds that we have
visited. Spanish moss hung
from every tree making you think you were camping a lot further north
and for many of us a little back-home-sickness set in.
Of course the cool weather contributed to that feeling also.
Some of us were shivering from the cool breeze but for the most
part found the weather enjoyable and just right for playing several
games of bocce ball and wholly board.
As the temperature dropped several of us decided to get together
in the spacious clubhouse for a few games of cards.
We will return to this campground in January.
You may want to bring some warm clothes. We met
on Friday night at the Dixie Crossroads restaurant in Titusville for our
Christmas party. The
restaurant is well known for seafood even though a few of us had an
excellent beef dinner. John
& Joanne Huffe were the lucky winners of our 50/50. A good time of
fun and fellowship was had by all.
Thanks to Art and Odette Hayes and Ann Metz for their efforts in
making this a successful party. Missing from the picture below are Ann & George Metz and
Joyce Somerday.
Our
normal Saturday morning flea market visits didn’t result in as many
“treasures” as in other areas. The
people we met during the adventure however were interesting and we did get
back to camp with all the free oranges we wanted to pick.
Speaking of treasures, we were surprised to find service stations
selling gas at 40 to 50 cents below Palm Beach County prices. Wish we could have held more! Seasons
in the Sun has many grapefruit trees that we found to our liking.
All of the “low-hanging” fruit was gone from a grapefruit tree
just behind the rigs but Billy was able to climb the tree for a delicious
breakfast grapefruit each morning. A
fruit picker may be in order for our next visit in January.
