Lake Kissimmee State Park, Lake Wales, Fl                     February 2007

Treasure Coast Travelers visited Lake Kissimmee State Park - another of Florida’s beautiful State Parks.  Since none of our members had ever been there we didn’t know what to expect.  Lake Kissimmee is a hidden treasure!   Its lush vegetation provides homes for many animals.  We had many animal visitors (deer, turkeys, and sand hill cranes) all stopping by for treats that had obviously been given to them from other campers.

The sites were very spacious with loads of vegetation separating each camp site and giving a great deal of privacy. Everyone was extremely pleased with their sites and this beautiful back-to-nature park.

Some of the trees have been there forever and have taken on formations that just scream for children to climb or add a swing to.   Some of our children (ha!) climbed aboard.

On the premises is a tower (if you feel brave and energetic) you can climb for a beautiful view; a pavilion that provides

for large parties or activities; trails that you can hike and paved road for bikers and joggers.  The park’s beauty was enjoyed by everyone.

Monday night Billy & Gail cooked ribs and the other members prepared wonderful sides the top off a great meal.  Joan prepared another cake which she claimed to be better than the “Better than Sex” cake from last campout.  How can that be?  Barbara made peanut butter pies that will be hanging on my thighs for a while and our two Italian ladies Joanne & Judy prepared corn chowder, raviolis and canolis.  Annice tried to balance some of the calories by preparing Texas toast and a congealed salad.   Someone will have to say ENUF!  Who will that be?

A very special thanks to our members Bill & Joan Kraftcheck and Norm & Annice Griswold for preparing a pancake/eggs and sausage breakfast for the group.  I personally think that should become a regular plan every month.  After jokingly expressing my thoughts, members Larry & Judy Dhans volunteered to make breakfast at our next campout at River Ranch.  Thanks to all of these members for their participation and for making our campouts fun and filling.

We were really blessed with beautiful weather.  Thanks to Ralph, Billy and Larry for keeping check on those temperatures and for planning ahead by bringing fire wood.  Those wonderful campfires allow everyone to stay warm while getting to know each other better.  Picture this – roaring fire, deer standing in your camp site, breakfast cooking on the grill, coffee in your hand and wonderful friends to start the day together.  Hmmmm?  Does it really get better?

Thanks to Ann & George Metz for delivering the new members their official hats, shirts and jackets; to Ralph & Barbara for making the new member names to add to our TCT attendance sign; and to Gail for handling the logo mugs.

Our new members are officially Treasure Coast Travelers.  Welcome!

                   Looking Good Guys!

As I close I want to remind everyone that we have a great sponsor with Al’s Motor Home & Trailer Sales in Ft. Pierce and encourage everyone to visit their fast-growing facility.  Andy Barker, General Manager is always happy to say hello but please keep in mind he is one busy guy and his time is very precious.

Billy & I had a short visit with Andy to give him the logo mug that the group had made for him and to give him an update on TCT.

Thanks Andy, we appreciate you and Al’s Motor Home & Trailer Sales.

Until next time….Happy trails!
